Announcing...Miracle Monday

I am not a worrier. If something is bothering me, I pray about it. So when I started getting an uneasy feeling about my blog I started to pray.

Was my blog supposed to be something other than humorous tidbits from my life? Was my blog supposed to be something different, something more? So instead of worrying about it and questioning myself, I started praying.

I asked God to let me know what my blog was supposed to be. I prayed about this for a while and my blog continued to be a blog about funny snippets from my life and I still had this nagging feeling that something was missing.

A couple of weeks ago, I was in the shower one morning and I was praying about my blog again. And while I was shaving my legs, God spoke to me.

Now, when I say spoke, I don't mean I heard a thundering voice or saw a burning bush. I mean 'spoke' in the sense that I felt a sense of peace and excitement and I knew exactly what I was supposed to do.

While saving my legs and praying about my blog, I heard the words "Miracle Monday" and got the idea that I should use my blog every Monday as a place to encourage people to write about miracles and then link them back to my blog. It would be like a clearinghouse for miracles.

I started thinking more about Miracle Monday and then I decided that it was silly and that I should just drop it. But I couldn't get the idea out of my head and I kept praying about it and thinking about it. And I realized that if God wanted Miracle Monday to happen it would happen whether I thought it was silly or not.

So with no further ado, I present:

I am asking that you spend this week thinking about a miracle that you have witnessed or that touched your life or that you have somehow been a part and next Monday, March 3rd, write a post on your blog and link back to it from here. (I'll have a Mr. Linky.) My plan is to host this every Monday starting next week.

And if this is something you would like to spread the word about, please feel free to use this button on your sidebar or to even write a post it about it this week letting everyone know that we are getting started with it NEXT Monday.

I know many of you may be thinking that you don't have a miracle to write about, but I bet if you stop and really think about it, you do. Your miracle doesn't have to be someone walking on water or someone being raised from the dead (although if you have a story like that, I would love to hear it!).

The American Heritage Dictionary defines a miracle as "an event that seems inexplicable by the laws of nature and so is held to be an act of God." Miracles come in all shapes and sizes and I think it would be a blessing if we shared them with each other.

So start thinking about your miracle, write about it, and link back to it here NEXT Monday.

Maybe now I can shave my legs in peace!

I think this is a wonderful and inspiring idea. God had his hand in it, so why wouldn't be. I will be thinking of any miracles, I know I have 4 littles one running around my house everyday.
I will be spreading the word too.

Beth- this is amazing!!!! I will def participate! :)

Oh... and isn't it great when God speaks to you while shaving you legs? The shower is when I get most of my alone time with the Lord. :)

I love it! I have seen many miracles in my life...I already have three biggies ready in my mind for the next three weeks...no, four, no, five! I may never catch up!

I get all my best ideas in the shower. There is actually a scientific reason for this. When our brain is relaxed because we are engaged in some mundane, everyday task (such as showering, working in the garden, walking on a treadmill), our brain uses "Theta Waves." These type of waves allow for ideas to flow because our brain does not need to think about what we are doing. Here's a link to some fascinating information on brain waves:

My husband always wants to know why I take so long in the shower. The ideas are just a-flowin', and so I don't even realize I have been in there a long time until the water turns cold!

What a great idea! I think bloggy world is full of miraculous stories, big and small, and we'll all enjoy sharing our own and reading those of our friends and fellow bloggers. Very uplifting plan for Mondays, too, when we tend to be a little bogged down anyway. I need to get in there and shave my legs and see if I can get ME a little inspiration going. Plus, you know, it's TIME.

I think it's so important to look for the small miracles in our lives, too. They don't have to be huge things.

Love this idea.

I do believe the Lord likes His children (well at least the women in America) to be neatly groomed - so I'm sure that is why He spoke to you in the shower shaving your legs. Love the idea - good for you and see there - obedience is a good thing isn't it?
Pam's explanation kinda takes it beyond the miraculous to the homeschool mom thing doesn't it? (teasing Pam - thank you for the information!)

Oh Beth, I just posted a new piece about Mundane Monday's that aren't so mundane at all. I like your idea so much better. Too bad, this Monday wasn't a miracle, it was a tragedy. As of the 4th, I plan to follow you and write about a miracle.

What an uplifting idea. Kudos.

I absolutely love it. I love that you felt convicted and had the courage to act, too. I, also, have been having some convictions about my blog. I am convicted that if I can't write to the caliber I want to and if there is no news on my hubby's condition, I will skip a day. I am so afraid of skipping a day and that is so silly, I know. I feel like I will be ostracized from the blogging community, but it is simply becoming TOO time consuming from my daily life because I LET IT. So, I totally get praying about the direction you should take this and letting God guide this.

I have SOOOO many miracles, I can fill your pages for MONTHS!

Funny thing. Mondays. I just happened to write TODAY about my Middle Miracle Child on my blog. So I guess I got a jump start on Miracle Monday. Guess that makes me the FIRST post! Do I get a prize or something?

What a lovely blog you have.

It's a miracle that you didn't put a gash in your leg when God spoke to you while you were shaving them.

Ok - I'm totally stoked about this. Posted about it on my blog and I hope my friends participate. Question... maybe 'cuz I'm relatively new to this, but you said to link back to your story here... um, huh? How do I do that?

Christy said...

This is such a great idea. At first, I got excited and my mind started thinking of miracles I could write about then I remembered duh, I don't have a blog. Monday's are so blah anyway...this gives everyone something inspiring to carry them through the week.

Jen said...

OK....so it just hit me....this is such a great way for non believers to get a glimpse of what God is doing in so many lives!!

I can't believe this!!!! You will never believe me but I had just had the same thought about a week ago. I participated in "In Other Words" at Amy Bayliss's site In Pursuit of Proverbs 31. The quote was hosted by Beloved Mama and was on Miracles. I wrote about our own personal miracle and then thought... "I need to start Miracle Mondays." I even went as far as to have my friend's husband design the button but we hadn't finished the code. Mine is actually called "He Touched Me." God is so good! I'm so glad you are starting this!!!! God obviously has a message He wants to share with the blogosphere and it is that He Still Does Miracles!!
I can't wait to participate tomorrow. I will probably repost my original story. I can't wait to hear about all of the amazing ways God has worked in people's lives.
Come visit me at Signs, Miracles and Wonders! May God bless you in this endeavor.
