What we've been up to...

Last Sunday, Peter left for Myrtle Beach with his friends and was gone the entire week.  And Sarah spent most of that week working so Dan and I got a good taste of what it will be like Fall of 2022 when they are both gone.  (Thankfully after 20 years, we still like each other!)

Peter had a great time and best of all (for me) he called every day and texted so that helped me and my peace of mind.

Since Sarah worked every night while Peter was gone and was hanging out with friends when she wasn't working. Dan and I enjoyed dinners at home and then twice we went downtown for drinks at Incendiary Brewery and saw some live music one of those nights. When Sarah was home in the evenings, we got caught up on Survivor.  We've been watching old seasons with her.

Isn't she the cutest?  :)

On Saturday, the three of us went for a hike around Lake Brandt in Greensboro and then stopped by the farmer's market for treats and flowers on our way home. Saturday evening we headed to Mass and had dinner at Fourth Street Filling Station.

The flowers at the farmer's market are beautiful and cheap.  This arrangement was only $15.  You can't tell how full it is from this picture but it looks just as gorgeous from all sides.

We opened Dan's Father's Day presents Sunday afternoon when Peter got home:

On Monday I had a doctor's appointment, yesterday the kid's had dentist appointments, today Sarah has a doctor's appointment and Peter and I will be attending an online orientation Zoom session for college.  I hate that it isn't in person but online it is.

And that's what we've been up to lately.

All the things we've been up to for the last 10 days...

We have been busy thanks to Peter's graduation and Sarah's birthday and my mom's birthday.

First up was my mom's birthday.  She turned 78 on May 31st but we celebrated on Sunday, May 30th.  My brother treated us all to lunch at Firebird's to celebrate and then we came home for cake and presents.

I baked the cake and Sarah decorated it. Later on Sunday afternoon, Cathy, Dan's sister arrived and that evening we had a fire in the fire pit and made s'mores.

Then on Memorial Day, Dan, Sarah, and Cathy went for a bike ride around Salem Lake and then later that evening we had a cook out and my mom and brother joined us.

In addition to the normal cookout food of hamburgers, hot dogs, my mom's famous baked beans and corn and tomato salad, I made this charcuterie board:

On Tuesday morning, Sarah had school, so Dan, Cathy, Peter, and I, headed to Hanging Rock to hike.  The hike was strenuous but the views up there are always gorgeous:

And then of course, we came home, got dressed and went to Peter's graduation! After which, we went to a late dinner at the Cheesecake Factory!  YUM!

And then Friday, June 4th was Sarah's 17th birthday.  On Friday night, we went to dinner at Ryan's Steakhouse to celebrate Peter's graduation and Sarah's birthday. The only picture I got of the evening was my food:

The picture doesn't do it justice but trust me, it was delicious!

On Sunday, we celebrated Sarah's birthday with lunch, cake, and presents at mom's house.

Looks like someone has been a very good girl this year!  :)

And that's what we've been up to this past week and a half!

BMCHS Class of 2021 Graduation! He made it!

Tuesday evening was graduation for the Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School Class of 2021!

Graduation was held at the Carolina Theater in Greensboro.  And I must say that the entire ceremony was perfectly lovely.

The theater was beautiful and grand.  There was a brass quartet that played music while we were waiting for everything to begin.  And then when it was finally time, they played Pomp and Circumstance and much to my surprise, I did not cry!  The kids looked so happy processing in,  There was too much joy in that room for any sadness.

The Salutatorian and Valedictorian gave wonderful speeches. One was humorous and the other was touching.  And they both were perfect!

The guest speaker, a nun and 1970 graduate of Bishop McGuinness gave a great commencement address and the principal's closing remarks were just perfect.

I honestly could not have asked for a better graduation ceremony.

Congratulations Peter and the entire BMCHS Class of 2021.  YOU DID IT!
