7 Quick Takes Friday

---1---

Jennifer's kids spent the night last night so I'm a little groggy this morning!  There was pizza, donuts, hide and seek, extreme hide and seek with Nerf guns, Trouble, Beyblades, Dagedars and movies.  And to make things even more fun, since there's no school today, they will be playing here for most of the day.

---2---
Yesterday, Sarah said, "Did you know that tomorrow is Veterinarian's Day?  Jennifer, since your husband is a Vet (Veterinarian not Veteran) I guess you knew that already!

---3---
My husband is a Vet (Veteran not Veterinarian) and he is traveling home from Ireland and won't get to take advantage of the free meal at Applebee's or Chili's.  He was a little disappointed when he realized he wouldn't get his free burger this year.

---4---
I got a new Mom's Plan-It calendar to help me keep track of everything I need to keep track of.  I'm not sure I'm going to like it.  I just transferred everything from my other calendar to this one so I'm going to give it a week and evaluate it.  That's how old fashioned and behind the times I am - I have a handwritten calendar on my fridge.  YIKES, y'all.  That sounds so 1978!  Well, at least my fridge isn't avocado green!

---5---
I have volunteered at the kid's new school 3 times now.  And each time, the principal has thanked me for volunteering.  I don't even know many hours I put it at our old school over 3 years...but I can tell you exactly how many times the principal there personally thanked me...ZERO. (Now I know that the old school is much bigger but I was there A  LOT and she saw me A LOT.  A quick "thanks for volunteering" once or twice would have been very much appreciated.)

---6---
Typically people arrive at my blog by googling "Pirate Treasure Map Clues" or something along those lines, but lately I have had a lot of people arrive by googling "Alfred E. Newman" and "sock bun curls".  I'm glad to get any visitor I can but I really wish they were googling "super wonderful mom blog that's a definite must-read every day" and ending up here.  Oh well... I guess I'll take what I can get!

---7---
We have a very calm weekend planned.  We are celebrating Peter's birthday on Sunday by going out to dinner with my parents and my brother.  And we may try to take the kids to see Puss N Boots.  My husband does a really good imitation of the cat.  He likes to drink some milk and say "Now that's some good leche!".

Peter needs to get started on his November project (which is developing a product that would appeal to his classmates, describing this product in detail and coming up with an advertisement for the product.  He will also have to do a presentation in class).  In addition to working on this, he also needs to get started on his Science Fair project.

Is it any wonder that the bonus room is a wreck and will probably remain one until the kids take all of their toys with them to college?  They will take all of their junk with them...right?

Have a good one, y'all.  And to all the Veterans out there - thanks for your service to our country and I hope you get your free burger!

Thanks to your husband for his service!

Do you like the new calendar? I've seen some really cute Mom calendars at Barnes and Noble but I'm usually too cheap to indulge. I'd love to hear a review of it!
