The airline wanted to reschedule him so that he would get home Saturday night instead.
My husband knows me and understands that after he has been gone all week, even a two hour delay in his return has me spitting nails. A 24 hour delay might possibly harm my psyche.
So my sweet husband spent some time with the ticket agent, got rerouted to the next closest airport, rented a car, and drove an hour and a half to make it home after midnight.
I love my poor tired husband.I left pretty early on Saturday morning for a luncheon at my Mom's church so Dan got to get up early as well and spend the morning with the kids. As soon as I got home, he had to mow the grass. After that he had to drive to Greensboro which is over 30 minutes away, drop off the rental car and pick up his car from the airport. And we were home just in time for him to give the kids their baths.
I love my poor tired husband.
After lunch on Sunday, he spent over three hours putting a trampoline together for the kids that he didn't even want to purchase in the first place.
And he did this amid much whining.
"Is it almost ready yet, Daddy?"
"Can we jump on it yet, Daddy?"
"Honey, this is taking forever!"
OK, I didn't really say that but I'm sure he thought I was thinking it what with all the pacing I was doing. But I wasn't thinking that at all.
Instead, I was thinking, I love my poor tired husband. So on Monday morning my poor tired husband was probably more than ready to head out the door to get back to his paid job so he could get some rest. But even though he did more non-paid work this weekend than any poor tired man should have to do, look at these happy faces.
I love my poor tired husband.

oh..so sweet. He's a keeper!
They do things like that, these good husbands of ours. And all they want is appreciation. Sounds like he got what he needed! :) Cute trampoline pictures!
He sounds like a great guy! :) I couldn't even imagine what it would be like having my husband away from home for so long. I think I would have a nervous breakdown. Lee works Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, and gets the rest of the week off. We love his schedule.
Ahh.. what a great guy! I'd hold on to him if I were you! ;)
What a guy! I bet he loved seeing those kids enjoying the tramp!
He's the MAN! :) What a good sport! Bet the kids are LOVING their new toy! Mine are begging for one...
As one who travels for work, I know what it feels like to get home from a business trip and then be on parenting duty. I miss my kids, miss my family, but am so tired! And I can see why you love your poor tired husband. Those trampolines are impossible to put together. He did a great job.
what a guy! I think we are going to get a "bounce" when we get to KY. Bring on the anxiety now that I think they will break a bone!
My hubby is just like this. I love him too. What a sweet post you did about yours. The trampoline looks great. We had the same one. Now we have a smaller yard so we can't have one, but someday we will buy another one when we can. Your hubby did and awesome job being so tired and all. I be the kids are having a blast.
he sounds like a keeper. :)
Oh, he's a good guy! (But after a week in Ireland and you home, he's probably saying the same about you. :)
So sweet!
And I love those photos!
Woo...I'm so glad I'm not the only one who would blow a gasket if hubby comes home late when getting back in town. TOO much happens when daddy is gone for it to be extended AT ALL!
You have a great husband, what a blessing!!
Go poor tired Husband!
Your poor tired husband is just the sweetest.
Good grief! I'm tired just reading about all he's been through. What a sweetheart :) Love those picks of them jumping on the trampoline!
Sounds like he is a keeper. At least he knows he is appreciated.
Great pictures too!
I love him, too! What a guy.

Wow, he's wonderful. He must have been exhausted, and if your kids are anything like mine, they were likely all over him after his travel!!
Aww, what a wonderful man. I'm so glad you have someone so awesome. :) Your kiddies have the best daddy ever, those smiles say it all!
What a sweet guy. I have a great man like that also.
