All that work and we still aren't done!

On Friday night we headed to the pool for the first of five Food Truck Fridays.  The food truck that was there was serving chicken and waffles, chicken wings, chicken sandwiches, and fried fish.

The food was tasty  and we had a good time hanging out with Jennifer's family.  I love it when we have Friday night plans because that always seems to make the weekend feel longer.

On Saturday morning after Dan got back from his run we were discussing what to do (accomplish).  I have mentioned before that I would love to paint our garage floor with that concrete fleck paint and repaint the walls in the garage.  The walls are all marked and dinged up from years of bikes and rakes and other garage miscellany being tossed up against them.

So Dan headed to YouTube to watch garage floor painting tutorials and determined that to properly clean, seal, paint, and top coat the garage floor would take a minimum of 5 days with all the different steps and drying time included.  I considered everything that properly painting the garage floor would involve and decided that I would be perfectly happy with just repainting the walls.

So at 10:45 on Saturday morning we headed to Lowes to get paint and supplies.  Our garage has very high ceilings and after surveying the situation and factoring in our late start time we determined that we were only going to have time to clear out one of the walls and paint it.  The other three walls would have to wait.

So in the heat of the day (it was in the 90s this weekend) we moved the garage refrigerator and the two shelves from the wall we were going to paint.  I had to clean all the baseboards because they were quite dusty and Dan got to work on wiping the dirt from the walls.  Garages are dusty and dirty , y'all!

Then we started taping the baseboards and the door frame and THEN we got to work painting.  We eventually finished by about 6:00.  Then on Sunday afternoon we removed the tape, tossed out all the junk from the shelves that we no longer used or needed, dusted the shelves, and put everything back in it's place.

That one wall looks really good but the other three still need to be done and I'm not sure when we will get to them.  We are heading to South Caroline next Saturday to get fireworks so next weekend is out.  Maybe in two weeks we can tackle another wall.  In the meantime I'm just going to enjoy my one nice pristine garage wall and ignore the other three!

And since I hate to put up a post without a picture, here's one of Wally watching the hummingbirds:

I think he's making dinner plans!

Oh, how I would LOVE to get even one wall of my garage painted. Or to even have one wall in garage organized. Great job! It's a big job, so breaking it down into smaller, bite-sized pieces is a great way to go.

Congratulations on the garage painting. One wall is still amazing success.

I love you Wally pictures. That feeder is placed at such a good height for him too.
