I just made a big mistake.

As I was bending down in the kitchen to get something from a lower cabinet, I glanced up toward the counter tops and to my shock and dismay I realized that they were covered in coffee grounds, salt, pepper, bread crumbs and various other crumbs of unknown origin.

The beauty of my dark speckled granite counter tops is that they do not show dirt and grime.

The problem with my dark speckled granite counter tops is that they do not show dirt and grime.

Guess I have another item to add to my to-do list.

sigh

Welcome home, indeed!

Oy. I'm sorry.

I have the opposite problem. We have light colored formica countertops. Even 1 grain of salt shows. :(

dude...that is totally my mom's carpet. It shows NOTHING....and thus....she forgets to vacuum it. Then the grandkids come, and their socks are nasty in an hour, and she realizes it is time to clean. LOL

Oh dear, hate it when that kind of thing happens.
Just turn on some energizing music, and dance around and sing while doing your chores. Maybe that will make it all better.....maybe. :)

My counters DO show the dirt and grime and let me tell you, it is THERE. I wish I could say it's there because I can't see it (turning off the light and walking away only works when I'm being really delusional) but it isn't. I'm just that crummy at housekeeping! :)

I have the same thing with my counters. It's a mixed blessing!

I cannot wait for granite. I have terrible icky-blecky white something or other from Circa 1989. It shows EVERYTHING!

Colleen - my husband is from Wellesley, MA. We stayed at his parent's house there. We ventured into Boston a couple of times and if it weren't for the weather, I think Boston would be a great place to live!

I just purchased & moved into my new house in early September. Beautiful granite counters in the kitchen. Sometimes I can't tell if it's the pattern in the granite or a crumb. Worse, I wipe the counters down & think they are clean until I run my hands over them and feel the stuff that is stuck on but not visible. To be fair, I have visual challenges due to a history of detached retinas, but my friends say the same thing so I know it is a common problem!

Aggghhhh!!! I read your post and thought 'no way'... so I just bent down, looked across my counter at eye level and it's FILTHY. I had no idea. Something else to be compulsive about now.

At least it's not too bad of a chore. ;)
