I used to make chocolate chip cookies for Dan quite frequently but once the kids came along my energy level plummeted and along with it went my desire to spend lots of time in the kitchen baking.
So to compensate, I've been "baking" my family cookies with the pre-made Nestle cookie dough.
And while these are okay, there's nothing like eating real made-from-scratch cookie dough.
So while my kids had settled in to watch the Polar Express, I whipped up a batch of original Toll House cookies.
In a flash, I had the dough mixed up and was ducking down behind the cabinets eating large spoonfuls of it.
Sarah kept asking when it would be ready so she could have a lick.
I felt a little nauseous from all the dough I had eaten and decided I better give the kids some before I ate it all.
Then I used my Pampered Chef medium scoop. It was so much easier to use than the normal spoon and finger routine. And look how uniform they look....
And here's the secret for delicious, moist, chewy wonderful chocolate chip cookies....
DO NOT OVER BAKE THEM!
Take them out of the oven before they look done. It will be hard to do, but trust me. I took these out at 9 minutes and they looked like pancake batter that was just starting to get tiny holes in them.
Leave them on the pan while the next pan of cookies is baking (for 9 minutes) and then when the second batch is done, take the first batch off of the pan. They will have finished baking and will be solid enough to remove from the pan.
And trust me, they will be delicious!
And I should know, because I had chocolate chip cookies for breakfast!

All I can say is: Yummy!!
Love the pointers! :) That's how I like my cookies too. And I cracked up over your hiding and eating the dough, because I've been known to do the same thing! :)
If you want to kick up the recipe a notch, add 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa to half of the batter.
Put some of each batter in each scoopful.
You get a marbled effect. The BEST part is that you can TELL when the chocolate cookies are done because you can watch the regular ones. I always overbake chocolate cookies, which is why your post reminded me of this. :)
If you need another scoop and you don't sell Pampered Chef, Amazon has the medium size OXO cookie scoop for a decent price. They really are so much nicer than a spoon because you get consistently sized cookies... and they bake more evenly.
Are you doing Fuschia's Cookie Swap on the 9th? :)
Good Grief girl...you've got my mouth watering. Those pictures look good enough to eat! I can't imagine how good the cookes taste in real life!
Oh wow, those look AND SOUND wonderful!! LOL I like to sneak licks in between before the kids get their's too - hee hee
Great tip on taking them out early - I'll have to try that!!
I use that scoop too and it works wonderfully! I'm hungry looking at them!
I agree with your method :) I always take mine out when they are still that pale, creamy color and Rob always asks if they are done.
As if that would stop him ;)
I wonder where you got such good baking advice? *cough, cough* Great job! I am proud of you! Way better than the premade dough, don't you think?
Yum, and double Yum! Those look delicious!
Great job Beth!
I love cookie dough too!
Beth, I will be sure NOT to show Hope this post! LOL!
You're so right about taking the cookies out a little early. I always wait too long and then the cookies are hard as rocks the next day.
i use a p chef scoop too- i forget that there is any other way to do it!
Megan
i puffy heart the pc cookie scoop. makes THE BEST cookies every time!
They look great, but I will have try one to be sure. Save me one or you can just make me a batch.
I JUST made choco chip cookies! how funny! i love LOVE baking during the holidays...reason i gain a few lbs i'm sure. I do have an ice cream scoop that would've worked great but didn't even think to use it- good idea! I just followed the recipe on the chocochips bag and they came out PERFECT. I ate my share of batter along the way too...ooooooh yeah.
my son just asked me for another cookie...but said he wants a "wobbly" one. LOL!!! some of them i didn't get out early enough and they are not soft enough for him....but i love how he calls them WOBBLY. heehee
They look sooooo deeeeeelicious!! And where is the one little cookies I asked for??
Oh, I would never have chocolate chip cookies for breakfast ;-)
I do love Pampered Chef! They have great products. I will look for the cookie scooper.
Take care!
I hope you have a great weekend!
Ok, "Mmm Mmm Good" is not the slogan for Tollhouse cookies, but it should be!
Mmmmmm....great pointers. I've made the mistake of taking them off immediately, and was left with a cookie falling apart.
Wow they look delicious!!
I just got invited to a Pampered Chef party I hadn't realised they'd expanded over here now. I had been exposed in the US and now I know I'm gonna wanna buy everything when I go.
Those look delicious!
I used to sell Pampered Chef. I still think they have some of the best kitchen gadgets around.
Once you use a scoop for cookies, you will never go back to a spoon and finger again!
I have NEVER made it through cookie them all without the raw dough induced nausea. And That is a Good Thing.
Those look so good! I finally discovered that trick a few years ago... taking them out a couple of minutes early. My husband accused me of burning everything all the time, which I did. But now that there are kids involved, burning cookies is NOT an option :)
Been using my scoop for years. LOVE IT!
Get the small one also. Nice if you're making them for a party. Makes more & smaller. OH, and you can't beat the large one for muffins.
Hi. My name is Donna and I'm a Pampered Chef junkie.
