Every year the Hispanic community at our church does this as a fundraiser.
And every year the same gingerbread loving lady bakes and assembles gingerbread houses, all the candy you could possible need to decorate them AND makes all the icing as well.
We purchased a small house again this year and picked out the six bags of candy we would use to decorate our tiny home.
The kids each decorated gingerbread people (a gingerbread man for Peter and a gingerbread angel for Sarah) while Dan got started on the house.
My sweet husband spent lots of time deciding what to put where while I drank cinnamon coffee and watched.
After the kids decorated their people they decided they wanted to help with the house.
It took a little convincing but my husband finally decided to give in and let the kids "help".
I think when the kids get a little older, we will let them each decorate their own house and Dan will have one of his very own to decorate.
And I'll still probably be sitting around sipping my complimentary coffee.
Three sides of our little masterpiece!
So which looks better, this year's house or last year's house? My husband wants to know.

I like this years house better! Very cute and I'm impressed. You should see the mess that my 3 year old and I made while attempting to decorate a ginger bread house. Oh my.
I like your blogspot! How did you create your signature? I love it.
Have a blessed day!

Both are excellent! However, I like the white touches of icing on the roof shingles! Thanks for sharing.
I like this year's house because of the snow on the roof!
What a wonderful project! I can't imagine how long it takes to bake all the gingerbread... and how incredible it smells baking!!!
They both look very yummy, but I like this years best.
Now, that is a Christmas project I could sink my teeth into, LOL!
I think they are both great, and that your husband is a master gingerbread craftsman, but I do favor this year's creation.
I like both gingerbread houses! I love the back of this year's.
My son and I built our's last night... isn't it fun to decorate the houses?
I'm mixin' up a batch of gingerbread as we speak (well, it's chilling in the fridge) for our houses.
Your houses and Ginger people look great!
I would think that if you ever want your husband to help with Christmas activities again you would say his house is best!
Tough call between the two but I guess I will have to go with this years.
I'm so impressed!
I love both of them too.
I really hate that we missed it, I hope we can go next year.
They are both cute! What a fun thing to do!
What a fun family tradition! I like this year's house. And Peter and Sarah did a great job on their cookies.
Love them both but this years is better. I agree the kids will need thier own next year - daddy's is a little bit too pretty ;)
I can't decide...they are both just as cute as can be! That looks like so much fun!
that sounds so much like me, trying to do the house myself, sometimes you just gotta let go:)

Great idea of a fundraiser. I'm curious as to how it does for them as such.
Anyways, this years. The detail on the roof is better.
I like this year's house better! And what a wonderful fundraiser! That looks so much fun!
This years! It looks much more tastey, lol. I forgot all about decorating houses and cookies- I might try to get that in before Christmas comes. They are so much fun!
My Mom has decorated a Gingerbread House each year with Claire, the kind out of the box. This would be a neat event to purchase from.
I like this year's house best. Great job!
I love the gingerbread house. This is a great idea to have as a fundraiser, and it looks like it's a great project to get families involved.
Can't decide! They are both super cute! That reminds me we need to buy our gingerbread house kit so the boys can decorate! Almost forgot!
MMMMMM..... both houses look good to me..we made one too and it was pretty tasty. I ought to know, I ate most of it!
They are both great! I love GB houses! I wish they would last longer though!
Great post! :) I love that the hubby had to work really hard to give up the control. LOL I could see it being hard for me as well.
I think this years house it more polished. :)
have a great week.
Wow--- what hreat looking ginger bread houses!
I can't decide, they both look so scrumptious! This year's looks really cool though.
Oh they are so adorable! They look equally delicious :) I love all the details in the roof this year, and I love the front of the house last year. I can't decide!
I am BEYOND impressed at both year's houses. SO MUCH DETAIL. wow. This year's house has just a touch more bling with the small marshmallows on the roof and the entire side of the hosue filled with gumdrops. Does it have granite countertops?
KEEP BELIEVING
