What We Wore Sunday

Sarah and I both sported leopard print to Mass on Sunday.  And since we both thought that was cool, we took pictures.  So, here's an unofficial What We Wore Sunday:

Sarah's entire outfit came from Target - even her super cute boots!

Sweater: Target
Tee: Target
Booties: Target
Pants:Kohl's
Scarf: CentsOfStyle.com

Sarah loves it when we are "matchers".  I've got a feeling that's not going to last long so I'm going to enjoy it wile I can!

What I Wore Sunday

In an attempt to get back to normal around here, I thought I would post for What I Wore Sunday.

But, before I do, I'd like to complain a little bit. (Just a little.)

I FEEL LIKE A WHALE!!

There.  That feels better.

With that said, here's what I wore to Mass this morning.

Dress:  Liz Lange Maternity/Target
Jacket:  Walmart
Scarf: MyCentsOfStyle.com
Shoes: Kohls

I hope you like this outfit because I've got a feeling I am going to be wearing this maternity dress to Mass for the next several weeks.  But don't worry, I'll try to accessorize it differently every week so it will look like a completely different gigantic outfit.

I gained 60 pounds with this pregnancy and over the last 17 days managed to get rid of 36 of them.  Unfortunately, that still leaves me with 24 more pounds than I started with and unfortunately, I don't think those are going anywhere with out dieting and exercising.  Blech.

Head on over to Fine Linen and Purple to check out what everyone else wore to Mass today.

WIWS: The Stitch Fix Edition

Joining up with the ladies at Fine Linen and Purple for another addition of What I Wore Sunday.

In very early August, before I found out I was pregnant, I signed up for Stitch Fix.  If you've been living under a rock (or don't read a lot of blogs) and don't know what Stitch Fix is, I'll clue you in.

Stitch Fix is a website where you create a user profile by answering some questions about your fashion style, pay $20, and then excitedly wait for the mail man to deliver a beautifully packaged box to your door containing 5 items that were chosen just for you from your personal stylist based on your profile.

You try on the 5 items, keep what you love (and pay for it, and your $20 fee is deleted from any items you purchase), send back what you don't love (in a postage paid envelope) and sign up for another fix.

Each item comes with a style card that includes tips on how to dress the item up or down.

I tore into my first Stitch Fix delivery and everything was too dressy for my taste.  I didn't want to lose $20 so I decided I could probably make this silky black and white polka dotted shirt work with something.  I kept it in my closet waiting for cooler weather.

After every shipment you receive from Stitch Fix, you go online and tell them what you are keeping and what you are sending back.  You also get to rate every item and include comments.  I gave them my comments and made some changes to my profile and anxiously awaited my next order.  (I decided to get one more order even though I was pregnant because it was so much fun getting a surprise package in the mail!)

The next Fix came and I only ended up keeping a necklace.  I was already too pregnant at the time to look good in anything they sent and I really didn't feel like holding on to a bunch of items until next spring (and with the amount of weight I've already gained, I won't be able to fit into my normal size for a long time after the baby arrives).

So back all those items went (with the exception of a necklace) and I sadly suspended my Stitch Fix shipments indefinitely.

I've already decided that when I get back down to my normal weight after the baby arrives, I am going to treat myself to another package from Stitch Fix.

WIWS: The Ebony and Ivory Edition

I'm linking up with all the lovelies at Fine Linen and Purple today for another edition of What I Wore Sunday.

And just like the post title implies, I went with classic black and white.

And not because I'm necessarily classic but simply because it was easy.  I pulled it out of the closet and threw it on and knew that it would look good together without thinking twice.  Black and white always look good together!

WIWS: The Sarah Says It Doesn't Match Edition.

I have finally fully recovered from my latest bout with strep throat! I normally bounce back with in a day or two but this time it took my until about Thursday evening until I finally felt 100% like my old self. So to celebrate, I decided to wear an outfit to Mass today that Sarah said didn't match. I'm such a rebel.

And I knew should would say that.... but... remember when I wore the same skirt here?

And in that post I said that a fashion blogger said that black and white skirts were in this summer.  But to really make them pop,you needed to wear them with a brightly colored top.  So:

Here you go!  Brightly colored top!

And the shoes I wore with the skirt last time were returned to Target because THEY SQUEAKED THE ENTIRE WAY TO THE ALTER FOR COMMUNION.  THE ENTIRE WAY.  AND WE NORMALLY SIT IN THE BACK OF OUR LARGE CHURCH!

It was horrifying.  So I promptly took them back to Target, admitted that I wore them once but that they SQUEAKED.  And they took them back.  Good retailer!

So I paired the outfit with these pink shoes.  Probably a little too much pink but it's what I had so I went with it.  And then I took a long necklace and doubled it up to give it some black on top for balance.  That makes it sound like I know what I'm talking about.

Even though Sarah says it doesn't match, I think it looks pretty good.  And I didn't feel as dorky as I thought I would with my bright pink top on.

Head over to Fine Linen and Purple for more What I Wore Sunday.

My all time fave WIWS photo.  My head is not on here!  Love it!

Check the strange pink pose.  I really should have been a catalog model.  All this talent wasted!

What I Wore Sunday ...on a Monday!

Joining the ladies at Fine Linen and Purple for What I Wore Sunday ...on Monday!

What can I say?  I had Sarah take my picture before Mass on Sunday morning and then I totally forgot all about posting them. I'm going to blame it on Father's Day, a big lunch, and going to the pool with the family.

Continuing the tradition of posing as if I am alone on a beach pondering the meaning of life.
Whew! Wiping brow and pleased that all the reflecting is over.

It's a twofer folks! Reflecting and brow wiping all in one shot.

And just to prove I did not go to Mass barefooted as the above photos might make you think.
Details:
Dress: Target
Shoes: Kohl's
Bangles: Kohl's

I wore this outfit on Easter but styled it much differently since it was pretty cold on Easter.  My arms and legs however, are still just as white.  If it ever stops raining here, maybe I can get a little sun on these pale appendages.  I'm not promising anything though as ut us raining right now.  Again.  Blech.

What I Wore Sunday

Before we get into the outfit, which is why I know you are all here today, I am looking for new blogs to read this summer. I've got a feeling I'm going to need a lot of good reading while the kids are swimming, playing with friends, and generally having a good time doing their own thing.

If you leave a comment on any of my posts this week, I will add you to my reader if you aren't already there. So comment and help a sister out with her summer blog reading!

Now, onward and upward to my outift - which I happen to love.  For the last two years, I have been avoiding the whole maxi dress trend but I finally tried one on and I felt great in it!

Nothing like embracing a trend when it's on its way out!  And I just noticed that now maxi skirts are everywhere.  Perhaps I'll grab one of those while it's still fashionable to be wearing one.

Forgive me for not having any of my normal dorky catalog-style photos this week (or maybe you are thanking me for no awkward poses and totally fake smiles.)  All I've got today are family style photos and the second one is grainy because Sarah took it with my cell phone.

WIWS - More Pink and White

It's What I Wore Sunday and I'm wearing pink and white again this week!

(And for anyone that remembers my outfit from last week, I'm talking about my pasty white legs!)

Onward and upward with actual white pants covering my legs this week!

Shirt: Target (Clearance!)
Capris: Kohl's
Sandals: Target
Jewelry: Kohl's

These pictures don't highlight the fact that this shirt comes way down in the back which I think is pretty cool.

I wish these capris were just a wee bit longer.  I wanted pants that came down more to my ankles but the only white pants I have been able to find that come down to my ankles are skinny jeans and I am NOT I repeat NOT squeezing into to skinny jeans in the summer.   It's just not going to happen!  So, I was left with these too short white pants. Oh well...I will continue to search.

To see what all the rest are wearing, head on over to Fine Linen and Purple!

WIWS: Edition I don't care if I'm cold, I'm wearing it anyway.

I have not participated in WIWS for the last two weeks. Don't worry. I've gone to Mass both weeks but we have been crazy busy and one outfit was a repeat and the other was not worthy of being photographed. But you can sigh a huge sigh of relief my friends because I'm back. And as I am typing this, I realize that this outfit is also a repeat. However, I have styled it differently.

The last time I wore this shirt dress from Target I was dreaming of spring but it was still very cold so I had to pair it with lots of goodies to warm me up. But now it's May and ..... Wait! I'm STILL dreaming of spring. Where is my hot North Carolina spring? I miss her. ....sigh.... But there was no way I was wearing leggings a jean jacket and boots with this on May 5th, so I pretended it was warm outside and went for it.

Don't let the sunshine fool you.  It was out for less than 2 hours yesterday and did not warm up the day much at all. Low 60s is not N.C. spring weather.

And yes, Mom, I really need a slip.  And no, Mom, I still do not own one.

Apparently you have to do more than just purchase the Jergen's Natural Glow Self-Tanner.  You actually have to USE it!

Deets:

Dress: Target
Shoes: Target (old, very old)

And I wish I had taken a close-up of my necklace.  It's an old gold (fake, of course) chain and I found a pink stone earring that was surrounded by gold (fake, of course) so I used the earring back to clasp it to the chain and turned the old earring into a charm. I was so pleased with my bad self!  I felt like I needed something gold to go with the dress because the belt buckle was gold.

I think the dress, because of the length to my knees, could probably use shoes that are just a little taller than these wedges.  But, the shoes matched the belt so I went with it.

And there you have it folks!  What I Wore Sunday.  (Or in this case, technically, What I Wore Saturday Because I Went to the Vigil Mass.)

This week you need to head over to Messy Wife, Blessed Life to see what everyone else is wearing today.

WIWS: The Barney Edition

It's Sunday and here's what I wore.

This is my typical foot pose for WIWS photos.  I never know what to do with my foot so I always point it out like a deranged ballerina.

My brother told me the other day that he thought the way I put my foot out looked strange.  So I tried several different poses but didn't know what to do with my foot. This is my "trying to pretend I don't feel stupid with my foot NOT poked out" pose.

This is the sweet rose detail on my cardi. My fashion photographer thought I needed a close-up of this.

Deets:

Tee-Shirt - Kohl's
Sweater - Target
Pants - Target (On clearance - $7.49!)
Shoes - Target

I got these pants on clearance at Target for $7.49.  Which was a great deal...until I got them home and wondered what the heck do you wear with purple pants?!

I have a purple and black striped tee shirt that is the exact same shade of purple as the pants but when I put it on I had to laugh. The whole outfit felt very Garanimals so I just couldn't do it - especially not to church.

So I went with the only other thing in my closet that felt safe with purple....and I'm even questioning this.  I think I need to pull out some old Barney VHS cassettes to see what he would recommend... a green vest perhaps?

Head on over to Fine Linen and Purple to see what else everyone wore to church today!

WIWS - Firmoo!

The outfit is nothing special. You've seen all of the elements before. But what I'm excited about today are my new Firmoo's! That's right.  My new glasses! Aren't they cute?

Link to frames style #CP6061

Firmoo is a global online optical store. They have tons of frames and they are cheap. It was so easy to order these.  AND BEST OF ALL?  They have a first free pair program.  Click here to see the details.  All you have to do is pay the shipping and you can get your first pair FREE!

And in case you are worried about how the glasses will look on your face, you can easily upload a picture of your face so that you can "try on" the glasses. Pick your pair, plug in your prescription (your eye doctor is required by law to give you a copy if you ask and should do so without giving you a hassle), make a few other choices and you are done.

It's very quick and easy. If you have any questions you can email their customer service team and they will get back to you by the next business day. If you are in the market for a new pair of specs, I highly recommend Firmoo. And these glasses are so affordable, you can own extra pairs and change them out like you would a necklace or a scarf!

**Disclosure... I was given a free pair of glasses to review.  Everything I have said here is true and I would definitely use Firmoo instead of my eye doctor for the next pair of frames I need!

WIWS - Boring is as boring does.

It's What I Wore Sunday and well, here's what I  wore.

Took this first shot outside and as you can see, it was super windy. The flap on the back of my jacket is blowing up and my hair is blowing away. But you get the idea...

We tried a few shots inside but the light wasn't  good and my belt is off center. But at least you can see my mass of bangle bracelets and  my leopard ballerina flats a little better.

Jacket - Kohls
Tee - Kohls
Cords -  Target
Flats - Target
Ill-fitting belt - Target
Bangles - Kohls
Necklace - Gift

This outfit is a little boring to me.  I think if I wore it again I would wear a burgundy tee shirt. That might give the outfit a little more oomph and would tie in the color in the bracelets.

Head on over to Fine Linen and Purple to see what everyone else is wearing today.  Hopefully their outfits are a little less boring and a little more inspiring.

WIWS - Another Copy Cat!

Some of my best outfits have come when I have stolen ideas borrowed inspiration from other WIWS participants.  And this week is no different.

I was in Target recently wandering around their clothing department when a magenta dress caught my eye.  Maybe it's fuchsia, I'm not sure because it's been a long time since I've played with the 48 box of Crayolas.  Anyway, it was a bright pink dress and it caught my eye.

"Didn't Dwija recently wear a bright pink dress from Target with her boots and look awesome?" I thought to myself.

I quickly tried on the dress and the angels sang and all felt right with the world and I bought it.

A dress!  A fuchsia dress!  What was I thinking?

I think this dress has lots of potential - especially now that spring seems to be ready to spring so I'm sure you'll see this again with different accessories.

I wish I had realized the jacket was flipped wrong on one side but my stylist didn't notice and neither did my photographer so we're gonna have to go with this:

I even copied Dwija's lime green accents.  I'm such a follower but when something works, it works.

Everything came from Target except the jean jacket which came from Kohl's.

Check out the other awesome outfits on WIWS and maybe you can steal a look find some inspiration for next week!

Also linking up to Lily Among Thorns for the first time.

WIWS - The Chevron Stripe Edition

It's Sunday - that's right - What I Wore Sunday!

I decided to hop on the Chevron stripe bandwagon before it became yesterday's trend.  I'm pretty sure I waited a little too long because it seems like the world has moved on to floral and printed pants as the latest and greatest.  Pretty sure I won't be hopping on THAT bandwagon.

Because, y'all, the 5 pounds I gained after Christmas and still can not get rid of has ended up in my thighs (and in my cheeks, both sets of cheeks, actually).  And a floral or any print on my pants is only going to magnify that problem.

Anyway, where was I?  Oh yes.  The Chevron stripe.

I like this shirt because it's loose and flowy and I don't have to stuck in my stomach when I'm wearing it.

The problem?

I felt like Rhoda the whole time I was wearing it.  Seriously, all I need is a head wrap and a spastic friend named Mary and I'm good to go.

Shirt:  Kohl's
Pants: Kohl's
Necklace: Kohl's
Boring Old Lady Shoes:  Shoe Carnival

If I can loose those extra five pounds and squeeze into my white jeans then I might be able to pair this shirt with those and some cute wedges and feel a little less frumpy.  Otherwise, I may declare the Chevron stripe dead to me and move on.

Just not to the floral or any-print-for-that-matter pants.

For less 1970's looks, head on over to Fine Linen and Purple and see what the other ladies wore to church today!

WIWS - Edition: Copycat!

One of the cool things about What I Wore Sunday is that you can check out a lot of really cool outfits and get inspired.

Or, you can do like me, and find a really cool outfit and just totally copy it. Which is what I did this week.

Last week, Grace from Camp Patton had on the cutest outfit. (Correction, Grace always has on a cute outfit.)

I had all of the elements in her outfit so I decided to give it a go this week.

She wore a blue puffy vest but I only have a brown one so that's what I used.

And her shirt was a little more denim-y that mine, but once again, I used what I had.

Also, she at 6 weeks postpartum has a much better figure than I do at 8 years postpartum, but once again, I used what I had.

Puffy Vest - Kohls
Blue Shirt - Lands' End
Sweater - Some shop in Ireland
Jeans - Kohls
Boots - Target

I wish my pants were tighter, but I think I pulled the look off okay.  I hope Grace approves!

What I Wore Sunday - The Super Quick Edition

Sunday!

Super Bowl Sunday!

We've got to do this quickly because I've got a lot to do.  We are having people over this evening and there is much to be done after Mass.

The house needs to be cleaned and I've got some cooking to do.  And normally I wouldn't worry about the house cleaning too much but see the white paper dot at my feet.  There are about a hundred of those on the floor thanks to a wayward hole puncher being used during the completion of a science project. At a minimum, those need to be removed from the floor!

So without further ado, here's What I Wore Sunday:

Shirt: Kohls
Sweater: Target
Pants: Kohls
Shoes: Kohls
Necklace: Kohls

I wish the necklace was laying (lying? I never use that properly and I'm in too much of a hurry to google it!) flat in this picture so you could see it better.

These shoes are run-of-the-mill but Sarah insisted on taking a shot and insted that I include it in this post.

For less-hurried WIWS head on over to Fine Linen and Purple and check out everyone else!

WIWS - The even more casual than normal edition.

It's Sunday!  And I know everyone is excited to see What I Wore!

So here you go:

Jacket: Kohl's
Shirt: Target
Cords: Target
Boots: Target
Scarf: Coldwater Creek

Here's a close-up of the scarf.  It's an infinity scarf and I happen to think it's very cool.  And I'm hoping it's going to be pretty versatile.

I know my outfit is a little more casual than normal today but this afternoon we are heading to the kid's school for a Ziti dinner and Bingo fundraiser and I didn't want to have to change clothes.  So lazy - I know!

For more Sunday best, head on over to Fine Linen and Purple!

WIWS - Heading to the O.K. Coral after Mass?

"You going to play cards in the wild, wild west?"

Not exactly how you want to be greeted by your husband after he sees you in the outfit that you are wearing to church.

But that's okay.  I thought my outfit looked pretty good so even his comments weren't going to sway me.

"Why don't you wear a thicker belt with slots for your bullets?" my husband asked with a smirk.

"If I was going to wear a thicker belt, it would hold my poker chips and not my bullets!" was my witty retort.

And then we left for Mass chuckling at how funny we thought we were.

So, here's my outfit (photo taken by cute 8-year-old):

Jacket: Kohl's
Shirt: Lands' End
Pants: Target
Belt: Target
Shoes: Target

And here's a recent purchase that added a little bit of color to the outfit:

Necklace: Target

I wish you could see the really cute feature of the jacket.  There's a little rim of plumage (I think that's the technical designer term...if not, please let me know the correct term so I don't look like a total fashion dolt) running around the bottom quarter of the of the jacket.  Not plumage as in feathers but plumage as in three very non-ruffley ruffles.

I know that doesn't make much sense but it's cute...adds some flair to the jacket and makes it look more hip and less Wild West.

For more knowledgeable fashionistas and certainly less gun-slinging, poker-playing ones, head over to Fine Linen and Purple.

Happy Sunday y'all!

WIWS - What can I get you folks to drink?

It's Sunday so it must be time for What I Wore Sunday.

For Christmas, my mom got me a new bedspread and a pair of red skinny jeans.  Even though they are red, I think the jeans will be very versatile and I am excited to try them with different things.

Today, I paired them with a white blouse, black sweater and leopard flats.

And while I was excited to wear this outfit, the whole time I was wearing it, I should be waiting tables at Chili's.  Plus the fact that I felt like I was choking throughout Mass thanks to a too small sweater and/or blouse and kept thinking, I can't wait to get home and get this off, did not help my feelings about this outfit.

Blouse: Kohl's
Sweater: Lands' End
Jeans: Kohl's
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Target

So, have you guys decided what you'd like to order?  Can I get you started with an appetizer?  How 'bout some jalapeno poppers or some hot wings?

For other less waitressy outfits, please visit the ladies at Fine Linen and Purple.
