There was a lot of whining around here this afternoon.
A lot.
At the height of all the whining and complaining, Sarah decided she wanted to play Go Fish with me.
Sarah: (in a really annoying whiny voice) "Maaahhhmmmmmmeeeee. Will you play Go Fish with me? Pleeeeeaaaaasssseeeeeeeee."
Me: "Sarah! Please stop. All of your whining is sending me over the edge!"
Silence
Sarah: (looking up at me with big round eyes) "Are you ever coming back?"
Silence
Me: Oh, all right. Just go get the cards!

"Are you ever coming back ?" Too funny.
Oh, my... too funny! :)
Can I go to? Since my kids are sending me anyway:)
Go Fish is a favorite for Eli too. Bring her on over and kill two birds with one stone.
very, very, VERY cute!!!
Too funny.
That's adorable, but I totally get where you're coming from. Hubs called the other day and asked me to look up a phone number for him and I just about lost it - it was just the last straw on a whole day of whining crying requests. Hugs! The funnies help, don't they?
Aaaahhhhh! That's just too cute!
Very funny my friend.
Isn't it amazing how they have a way of making us feeling really bad? *grin* Are you coming back? *sigh*
Kids DO say the darndest things!!!
I would have said, "Nope. Never coming back."
And then my poor little girl would have cried and I would have had to placate her with 42 rounds of Go Fish.
That's why I'm the bad mom :)
So glad it isn't just my kids that whine and complain! It's hard to get aggravated with them when they say something cute and funny like that, isn't it?! : )
That is great how she snapped you back so fast!
super cute! stumbled over here from google looking for something on a blog. cute story!
Kids really know how to bring us back over the edge that they pushed us in the first place
Sometimes I wonder if I have the strength to just be quiet amidst all the whining? Maybe you inspired me to try it! :)
Oh how I know this story!!!!!!!
Beth, You must go read my newest blog post. With my thanks, I was speaking to YOU (among others)
Thank you for your prayers!
Must be the age...my girl is the same...so stinkin' whiny!! I tell her she's driving me crazy...she doesn't care.
Whining is always so hard for me as a Mom. There are days that I feel like all I say is "no" and "use your words...all I hear is whining."
Sarah's response is priceless, though. :)

That's so funny. Whining sends me "over the edge", too.
That's HYSTERICAL!! I would've had to say "I'll have to get back to you on that!" :o)
When my kids used to whine, I would stand there with a very puzzled expression and say, "I'm sorry, I can't understand you - I'm afraid I don't speak whinese."
Amazingly, it worked pretty well!
