It was big news yesterday.
Big. B.I.G. Big.
It had to be big if I heard it multiple times. Because I get to watch a total of 3 minutes of non cartoon TV per day, prior to the kid's bedtime of course. Because, after bedtime, I am all about the TV, but none of that includes actual news. Because who's got time for the news when there's Top Chef, American Idol, Survivor, Hell's Kitchen, The Office...
The Office? Did she say The Office?
Yes, she did! The fruits of the labor of the writers who finally ended their strike are beginning to be seen all across network TV. I was about to offer to pay them myself if I had to watch one more episode of Deal or No Deal.
But anyway, back to The Office. Let me take a moment to do a little happy dance. I am so excited that The Office is back on. I love me some Office. Woo Hoo! We have it recorded on the DVR to be savored tonight. Some people savor a good book, good conversation, good wine.
Not here. We savor The Office.
Please don't judge me.
O.k. Where was I?
Oh, I was telling you that I don't normally get to watch any TV during the day and even though that is the case, yesterday, I heard multiple times that you do not need to drink 8 glasses of water a day! I was overjoyed to hear this because I never drink 8 glasses a day. In fact, I drink maybe one glass a day. OK, who are we kidding? I probably drink one glass a week.
Unless you count the water in coffee, sweet tea and Diet Coke. Does that count?
Because if that counts, then I am well over the 8 glasses a day.
But I was always pretty sure that didn't count so I just walked around sipping my non water drinks feeling guilty with every sip I took. But now, I don't have to feel glum because according to this new study all the myths of the benefits of water have been debunked.
Water doesn't fill you up before meals (I never used this tactic anyway. I always used cookies and candy), it doesn't reduce headaches (sending the kids to Grandma's house works wonders for me) and it doesn't improve your skin (that's what Clearasil is for people).
So, I am going to head to the kitchen right with a big smile on my face and pour myself another cup of coffee. Coffee is good for you, right?

That is great news! I'm with you...I'm going to get another cup o joe! Have a great weekend Beth!
I too am so excited about tall the new shows! Though I have just a few. =)
This information is very interesting about h20! While I love to drink it in the warmer months, I have to force myself to drink it in the winter. It just makes me too cold! I recently got kicked my diet pepsi addiction - I can't believe it, as I was 100% addicted!
Enjoy your coffee - I am drinking mine now. This is something I could NEVER quit!
mmmm Coffee. I drink way too much... but WHO CARES! lol
I hate water but I believe every blasted benefit ever made regarding it. And it bothers me that I know it is good for me because like you- there are atleast 6 other beverages I'd consume before water and one of those are juiced vegetables and well, who the heck likes juiced vegetables??? ICK.
Anyway, onto the important stuff... I absolutely will judge you for your obsession of The Office. Are you kidding me?? It's only the BEST TV SHOW of ALL TIMES. I now esteem you HIGHER THAN EVER!!!
I did a post way back when that you will chuckle to see again...

Clearly you'll have to paste that link...
And we too DVR all episodes of the Office. Even the 10pm episodes on TBS.
I try to drink that much water..but it has to be super chilled. So what end up happening in reality is I drink half the glass, then it is not super chilled. So I guess I am only drinking four a day....plus, coffee and diet Dr Pepper!
I am with you on never getting to watch TV much. But thanks to DVR I've been able to watch some after dark. I've been fighting my Diet Coke addiction here lately and have been doing pretty good. I'm just drinking lots more tea.
Yay for coffee, my wife is always getting on my case for my coffee vice. Thankyou for the link to web md. I'm sure it will change her mind! Maybe not.
That is such good news! I don't drink water either... I'm like you, maybe one or two 8 oz glasses per week! Woo Hoo!!!! Thanks for the heads up on this new study!
Oh, I'm so going to have to read up on this. It makes me feel so much better about the soda I'm drinking right now...I think I'll have another, too!
Before this writers strike, Thursday was our 'couch-date-night'. Hubby and I would put on our fat pants and eat something fattening while laughing along to 'The Office'. We just love it to pieces. I was at work last night so I didn't get to watch it, but Paul did.
Have you ever watched 30Rock? Another funny one!
Blessings, Joanne
Sounds right to me!
I have to wait until April 24th for Greys to come back :(
I LOVE the office too - no judgements here :-) It was like a marathon last night for me to catch up. I was so excited.
I do love my java, but gotta have my water - it really does have offer so many benefits that no other beverage can. I get at least 4 glasses in during my exercise time so that's at least half of my consumption done in 45 minutes!
I'm so excited that the office is coming back - I love that show!
I am right there with you, slugging the coffee and Diet Coke like it is going out of style!
I. Can't. Wait. For TV to start up again. :)
I drink water all day, every day at work and my face still breaks out like I was a teenager AND I'm still fat (prolly 'cause it doesn't fill me up b4 meals) Glad to know it was all just a myth. ;)
New shows?!?! I can't wait!!
Okay not such an Office fan, but I still love you as you have redeemed yourself with your love of coffee. Okay water tidbit....I have always needed to be well hydrated...or so I thought. My daughte and I have had a really busy couple of weeks and I said I hardly drink water like I use to...and guess what I am still able to function. And I was fine as a kid, teenager, and young adult with a cup or two of water...so what's the big deal anyway..
My Friend, YOU, are a HOOT!
I suppose I've been living under a rock, because when you first mentioned "The Office," I thought you meant you were going to work. The way you were talking about it I thought, "Wow, she must REALLY love her job." HA!!!!!!! I'm such a dork!
I have HEARD of American Idol, but have never seen it. (Although I DO wish I'd have been watching when Mandisa was on) Yes, I admit it... if there's any TV on in our home it's usually "kiddy shows." I've grown quite fond of, "Cory in the House" and such. If our boys don't have control of the TV then my hubby does. If he's holding the remote we get to watch one episode after another of, "How it's Made."
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.... sorry... just the thought of that makes me sleepy! (HA!!!!!!)
Seriously though, I suppose since I spend so much time on the computer it's probably a good thing (for me) that I don't have any TV favorites.... We'd NEVER have any clean clothes to wear. LOL!!!
Now, I scrolled down some, reading your other posts. I could identify with your panic about a lost child in WalMart. I was in the checkout, and Brent and Zach both said they need to go to the restroom. When well, Brent came back, but Zach didn't. (He'd decided to go in the game room WITHOUT telling anyone)
I went to talk with some people that worked in WalMart and they started asking me questions like, "What was he wearing?" I don't have a decent memory on a GOOD day, mind you, I was HORRIFIED... how should know what he was wearing???? (UUMMMM... because I'd picked out his clothes maybe?)
They started putting a "Code Amber" into play. (I think that's what they called it) Pretty soon after that, a lady that knew us saw Zach and brought him to me.
I PROMISED that kid if he EVER left me again in a store I'd give him a "whooping" that he'd NEVER forget.
It wasn't a week later we were home and he decided it'd be fun to hide from me. No, it wasn't a game of "hide and seek" he just hid until I noticed he was missing. (Good Mom, right?)
We had some people doing some work on our home (it was in the final stages of being built) and we ended up having to have THEM get down and help us look. (There is at least TWO small bodies of water behind our house. They are small, but both are deep enough to drown in) I don't know who found him that time, but he did get that spanking and he's NEVER hid from me again. LOL!!!
Okay, I didn't mean to take up all your space in the comment section. O=-)
Have a GREAT weekend! (And I wish you LOTS of FREE "Mommy time" on the tube!)
I'm excited about the shows coming back too. I got such a kick out of "Hell's Kitchen," this week. I watch tv after the kids are in bed and I am very glad the writers are not on strike anymore. I was going through total withdrawal for the last 5 months.
Water? What's that? Like you I am lucky to get a glass a week. I just can't seem to enjoy it. Coke and coffee are my only water during the week, Very healthy don't you think. I agree candy, especially Dove bars fill me up before meals. And coffee flavored with French Vanilla creamer is my vice. In fact a few years ago I actually made a new years resolution that I would never run out of creamer. I would almost run out and my husband thought I was crazy driving to the Safeway at midnight just so I could make it the whole year without running out once. I did it, but it has been downhill ever since.
I love the Office too. And I was also thrilled about the 8 glasses urban legend.
Ha! Well, that is good news! I am so bad about drinking water and I probably get as much water as you.
I have been watching The Office on Netflix and they are so funny. We watched the BBC original version of it and that was a favorite show of ours for a long time.
I loved this!
Bravo!
I drink my one cup of Java a day, but I make sure it is good quality. I only go to "FourBucks"
David
I LOVE the office, too.
I have read that the smaller you are, the less water you should drink. Makes sense. Why should my 5'2" female self have to drink as much water as a 250 lb man? Illogical. I don't need or want as many calories as him (Well, I may WANT THEM), so why should I need as much water as him. I do try to drink a lot of water each day, though, because I find I do have less headaches, and I am less hungry. I really do.
KEEP BELIEVING
I heard that on the news and felt vindicted too! Also - the Office is back, the Office is back!!!
