Dan's life is hectic and I'm just "glad" they decided to bloom!

Dan was supposed to arrive home from Ireland on Saturday evening just in time to greet our friends for a 4th of July cookout.  However,  his flight was cancelled and he was told he wouldn't even be able to get a flight out until Monday!  So he and the guy he was travelling with immediately rented a car and drove home from Newark.  It was about a nine hour trip and he would have been home right around 11:30 PM but a mile from home he witnessed a car blowing through a stop sign and t-boning a car right in front of him.

He said he dreaded getting out and checking on the folks in the cars because he just knew it wasn't going to be pretty.  But, praise the Lord, no one was injured.  The woman that was hit wanted him to hang around to make a report to the highway patrol in case the other guy didn't claim responsibility. H
e waited with her almost 45 minutes until someone got there.  (Pretty poor response time but I guess when they heard there were no injuries they took their time?)  He said she was physically fine but was very shaken up and was glad to have Dan there waiting with her.  I'm glad Dan was able to help her but that made for an even longer day for him.

We had a great time at the cookout without Dan but it wasn't the same.  Also, the fact that we were celebrating the 4th before the 4th felt weird.  We are headed to the cape this evening when Dan gets home from work and will hopefully be enjoying fireworks over Lewis Bay tomorrow evening.

Our garden is starting to produce!  We picked the first red tomato yesterday and there are a ton of green ones that will hopefully be ready when we return from vacation.  I have also picked cucumbers, green pepper, and jalapenos!

We've spotted quite a few bunnies in our yard this year which is odd because typically they don't come to our yard.  And this morning, I even spotted the cutest little chipmunk sniffing around.  I am envisioning lots of gnawed produce upon my return from vacation.

I purchased some gladiola bulbs from Aldi this spring and they are starting to bloom!  Aren't they going to be so pretty?  I can't wait until they are all opened up!
I'm currently trying to get everything and everyone packed and ready so that as soon as Dan gets home we can hit the road. I hope you guys have a great 4th of July and you know as soon as I get back and catch my breath I'll post tons of vacay pics.

Because doesn't everyone love to see someone else's vacay pics??? HA!

What a blessing that no one was hurt and Dan was able to be emotionally supportive. (But yes, 45 minutes is terrible response time!) Have a fun, safe trip!!

So glad that no one was hurt! 45 minute response time is terrible - I can only think that there must have been more urgent matters to attend to, I hope. Excited by your gladiolas! Have fun on your trip and be safe.

Poor Dan - so glad no one was hurt, but that was a long, long wait!

Witnessing accidents shakes me up. Glad everyone is fine.

Have a wonderful vacation. I am in Vancouver with the girls for North American National Championships for Irish dancing. Maeve danced awesome. 20th place in the nation. Glad thst part of our trip is over.

Today Coach arrives with the 4 boys. And vacation/touristy portion of the trip begins. We are staying in downtown Vancouver. I have mostly seen the inside of the dancing venue, but it is on the water with backdrop of mountains. Very cool!

I'm so happy to hear the accident wasn't worse than it was.

Thank goodness no one was hurt in the accident! So kind of him to stay with them too, I'm sure he was quite tired from traveling. I love Aldi's you can always find so many good things in there. :-) Hope you have a great weekend!

Blessings,
Jill
