The song that launched a thousand tears....

Remember the other day when I was recapping the 8th grade/Kindergarten Buddy Luncheon and I mentioned a song that made me cry right there in the middle of the cafeteria?  Well maybe cry wasn't quite the right word - silent sobbing may have been more accurate.

I was driving along from one errand to another this morning and I was listening to WBFJ as I normally do.  (I switch between WBFJ and K-Love as long as I'm in the car alone. The rest of my family have made it perfectly clear to me that they do not want to listen to my "Jesus music".)

I didn't recognize the tune that was playing but the lyrics made my ears perk up.

IT WAS THE SONG FROM THE BUDDY LUNCHEON!!

I was sure I was never going to hear it again and I really wanted to know what it was but when one is silently sobbing while one's child is sternly saying, "Stop crying or you are going to make me cry," it's hard to remember  the lyrics of a song so that one can Google it later when one isn't sobbing.

Anywho...here are the lyrics just in case you have a child that is growing up on you and while you are happy they are growing up, you still don't want them to be in such a damn rush so just slow down already.

Slow Down
by Nicole Nordeman

Here's to you
You were pink or blue
And everything I wanted
Here's to you
Never sleeping through
From midnight till the morning
Had to crawl before you walked
Before you ran
Before I knew it
You were trying to free your fingers from my hand
'Cause you could do it on your own now somehow

Slow down
Won't you stay here a minute more
I know you want to walk through the door
But it's all too fast
Let's make it last a little while
I pointed to the sky and now you wanna fly
I am your biggest fan
I hope you know I am
But do you think you can somehow
Slow down

Here's to you
Every missing tooth
Every bedtime story
Here's to Barbie cars, light saber wars
Sleeping in on Sunday
Had to crawl
Before you walked
Before you ran
Before I knew it
You were teaching me
The only thing love can
Hold hands through it
When it's scary, you've got me

Slow down
Won't you stay here a minute more
I know you want to walk through the door
But it's all too fast
Let's make it last a little while
I pointed to the sky and now you wanna fly
I am your biggest fan
I hope you know I am
But do you think you can somehow
Slow down

Please don't roll your eyes at me
I know I'm embarrassing
But someday you'll understand
You'll hold a little hand
Ask them if they can

Oh oh ho oooh
'Cause it's all too fast
Oh oh ho oooh

I am your biggest fan
I hope you know I am
But do you think you can
Somehow
Slow down
Slow down

I've heard that one. I agree - it's a tear jerker!

Oh yeah, I wondered if it was this song. This made the rounds with my book club in the fall. Definitely brings on the tears.

There was a really good video made with this song that was making the rounds on Facebook recently. Yeah, it makes you cry.
