Looks normal right? Like a hair-do any other 4 year old would be sporting this summer, right?
Wrong!
This is another Sarah mandated hair-do. I wasn't exactly sure what she wanted but she yelled at me until I got it right. And boy, did she love this hair style. She beamed from ear to ear after I put the brush down.
And yes, we went out in public like this.
And yes, we got a few strange looks.
And no, she didn't care. She thought she looked like a million bucks.
And after I set aside my preconceived notions of how my little girl should look, I realized that she did look like a million bucks.
I have a lot to learn from my kids.

awwwww!! That IS adorable!!
I know EXACTLY what you mean about letting go of our notions of how they should look and then voila they do look like a million bucks!
My Oldest is exactly the same way!
Thank you for the comment about my kitty. Many less tears today...
My four year old is the same way! She will bring over the chosen number of elastics (3, 4, 5) and help me understand where they should go. Or she goes with one elastic and about 10 clips.
Oh I love it! The only suggestion that I would have from my house is that it would really look good with the pink power ranger suit...
Then my blue power ranger and your pink power ranger could meet in the frozen food section of Super Target...
Makes me wish I would've never cut Rachel's hair. But hers is naturally curly and it's easier to wash and detangle shorter hair.
Cute 'do!
Those weren't funny looks! Those were jealous gazes - she has beautiful hair and that's a trendmaking look!
She is going to make the fashion trends instead of following them! Nothing wrong with that at all.
I used to do my hair the same way. I did alot of crazy things. One of my favorites was a Princess Leah like style. I would braid two pigtails and then wrap them around. I thought that was a really great style, and of course I had never heard of Star Wars at that time! Ahhh.. the memories.
A girl who knows what she wants...a girl after my own heart. Plus - what she wants looks GREAT! :)
Heidi
My 4-year old has lots of hair demands. Most of them involve weird, odd numbers of pony tails. This is incredibly neat and normal compared to having 11 ponies (and much less hair)!
How cute!!!!! My 7 year old always pulls out her ponytail when she gets to school because she thinks it's more glamorous. So enjoy the crazy do's while you got 'em!
How cute!
I let go of the clothing thing long ago. My rule is that if we are going somewhere special or to church mommy picks out the clothes. All other days they dress as they please. One of my boys likes to wear his clothes backwards (and sometimes inside out) and his shoes on the wrong feet. He does this on purpose - you should see him in a shirt with a collar, hillarious!
My consolation is that it's obvious he did it himself :)
So funny!! She's so cute!
Look at that grin! How cute is she. I think that hairdo looks great, lots of fun!
Awww! That is too cute :) She's so creative ;)
Will you do my hair tomorrow? And my kids for that matter?
I see you didn't win over at Mad, Mad's but I didn't either. In fact I didn't know about her in time, oh well...
What a great hairdo! Just think of what she may be doing to it in her teens! :)
awwwwwwwwwwww.....love that she has her own ideas. :) you are a good mom!
have a great weekend.
LOL! Toooooooo cute.
At least she likes her hair pretty. If I can get Taylor to go without a baseball hat for one day I am doing good!
Girl, that look is FIERCE! I love it!
haha! My daughter tries to give herself this look all of the time.
What a cutie. I love kids with their own little style. You've got yourself a little Carrie Bradshaw in the making. ;)
Sarah is such the fashionista! Love it!
Love the will of a preschooler!
My Gavin has the same steadfastness with clothes.
KEEP BELIEVING
