They named him what?

Am I cool or what?

Before you answer that, look up at the top of your screen where you typed my blog address.

Do you see the little flower up there? Isn't it just the cutest thing?

It's called a favicon and whenever you see that up there, you'll know that you are here, visiting me at "A Mom's Life".

Although you would have probably know that anyway since you typed in my blog address. But I thought it was cute. And I've seen other blogs that have one, so I wanted one. After doing a quick Google search, I found directions on how to do it and TAH DAH!

I think I've mentioned my feelings for Google.

Just in case you didn't know, I puffy heart Google.

Does saying that I puffy heart something make me less cool? I see that phrase all over Blog Land and just couldn't wait to have a reason to include it on one of my very own posts.

I follow the trends instead of creating them. That's how cool I am.

Anyway, I was flipping through my People magazine this morning and

Let me pause here for a minute to let you know that whenever I refer to People magazine I will always refer to it as my People magazine.

I'm not sure why, but I do it every time. You would never hear me say, 'I was reading my Reader's Digest last night" or "I can't wait to read my Kraft Food and Family magazine".

I guess it's the same as my grandmother referring to "Days of Our Lives" and "As The World Turns" as her stories. They brought her pleasure so they were hers. My People magazine brings me pleasure so it is mine.

Anyway, I was flipping through my People magazine this morning and I came across a little article about Rooster McConaughey. Rooster is Matthew's older brother and apparently he is appearing in truTV's new show "Black Gold".

Rooster (I am assuming that Rooster is a nickname) has a two year old son.

His name is Miller Lyte McConaughey.

Yep. That's right. They named this kid Miller Lyte.

And yes, it is because, to quote Rooster, "Miller Lite is about all I drink. My wife said I could name our child if it was a boy and she'd pick the name if we had a girl. She was scared to death I'd name her Jenny for Genuine Draft."

Hmmm...the wife would mind Jenny for a girl but doesn't seem to mind Miller Lyte for a boy?

I'm beginning to second guess the names I have chosen for my children.

Perhaps I should have gone with "Dyet Koke" or maybe "Koffy With Kryme And Lotz Of Splynda"?

Vidalia is sounding better and better all the time.

Wow. Just...wow.

(and how did you do that cool thing with the flower? I've wanted one of those for awhile...)

I don't hate vidalia.

And 1) I didn't know what those thingys are called. And 2) can you do a tute?

I want to make a list of 'easy' blogger tutes. I have some of my own, but you got me stumped on this one...

let me know if you do it!

I love the Flower! You are always so cool! Now you have to teach me how to do that.

I am going to next my next kid (Oh lord help me) Jalapeno Popper Dip.
How does that sound? I can call him or her Jaly or Dippy. Just like me.
Why do so many stars feel they it necessary to give their kids such off the wall names?

Dyet Koke - HA - you are so funny! That is a crazy name - I don't mind Miller, though - that's not bad. And ... I loved that you call it my People Mag - how cute is that. My mother, when she has an ear-ache, she always says, "I have THE ear-ache" - it's weird. Days Of Our Lives is one of MY shows.

Great post, Beth - I loved it! Have a good day - Kellan

Celebrities name their kids THE WORST names...
I mean, does Jason Lee think he's so cool that his son won't get picked on even though they named him INSPEKTOR PILOT???

or how about Denim? Corduroy? Plaid? ok ok, Plaid's a bit out there. lol

When we were little my parents used to take us to the "show" (movies). I haven't thought of that in forever.

And as far as names go... my son is in class with Lemanjelo. NOT kidding.

Ugh!

You rock. Seriously. I've wanted one of those forever! I've never thought to google it ;)

Miller Lyte? You;ve got to be kidding me. I'm with you, Vidalia is getting better all the time.

LOL, Koffe.... you are too funny. And there is a country song out there about a girl named Vidalia

A new celebrity parenting low point. Now I'm seriously beginning to wonder if his actual name is Rooster because it seems fitting.

really what is wrong with people? perhaps after being taunted about the name rooster he just wanted someone to have a stranger name.

I don't even know what to say...except for that poor boy!!

Happy POW!!! Great blog - and I LOVE the new favicon :-)

I've see some pretty weird names. That has to be one of the weirdest. Although, technically, who uese their middle name that much? That's the argument we used for our son.

Beth said...

That is great, poor kid. 'Miller Light' what were they thinking?!

I totally have a blog post about names that just don't work - unfortunately it's one of those still-sitting-in-my-head posts.

I love miller lite but not that much! Great post!

I'm not even sure what to say...people are CRAZY!!!

Happy POW.

I'm sorry, but naming your kid after a beer is just ridiculous. Sometimes I think Sweden has the right idea (where it's illegal to name your child something outrageous like Miller Lyte).

First visit to your blog and I was pretty sure I knew who designed it. (I am a regular visitor to MofaHW!) Very cute and love your little flower!

I would have to name my kid "Martini" and I just don't think that's right.

The guy's name is Rooster so you can't expect much from him...

At least he could have chosen a cool beer--lol.
Happy POW!

I puffy heart your favicon. I hope to someday have one of my own... I will call it MY favicon. :-)

Love the favicon!
I saw that article too. Some people are just a bit more out there than I can wrap my brain around!
Here I thought that I was bad for giving my daughter a name people don't know how to pronounce!

Angie said...

That's really bad. REALLY BAD.

I have wanted to have a reason to write on my blog: "Laughter ensued." I love that phrase. Isn't that stupid?

KEEP BELIEVING

Wendi said...

Love the flavicon!
I am so going to try to figure that out...too cute!
I love Google too.
Miller Lyte? not. good.
I was reading the "births" section of the paper one day. They always list the last name and then the first and middle. I came across one that had me perplexed. It looked something like this:

BRIGHT
Dee Most

Let that simmer for a minute.
That poor child was going to live her life as Dee Most Bright.
Happy POW!!!

So funny because I saw that article in MY People and thought the same thing! I think I'd name my daughter Grande Nonfat Mocha...

Happy POW!

McMommy said...

Beth,
I puffy heart that you used the phrase "puffy heart".

I don't puffy heart Miller Lyte.

But I SO puffy heart Bud Light with Lime.

If I could rename my boys all over again, I could name one Budlyte and one Lime. "Oh there's Budlyte..with Lime. That's his little brother."

hee hee

Happy POW!

You can't expect much from a guy named Rooster.

And my theory is, you call it "my People" because deep down inside you believe that they really are YOUR people. You belong with the rich and famous and somewhere inside, you know it.

POW!

Marla said...

I read that article... what on earth are people thinking, it took me a while to get over Rooster until I saw the miller lite and I decided I didn't need to read any more.

Ann(ie) said...

I remember when he did that. Thankfully Miller is such a cute name so it's not a total loss. I love Dyet Koke. hehe!! I'm surprised a Hollywood type hasn't stolen that yet!!! Lord have mercy. Some of those names....I still can't get past Apple and Moses. ????

Ann(ie) said...

I love that little flower!

Great post! Dyet Koke made me laugh...I like your sense of humor! I love when sites have those icons at the begining of the url. Good job!

I puffy heart your flower!

Makes you wonder what Matthew will name his baby, huh?

Great post, my friend!

Dyet Koke...PERFECT, that would have worked MUCH better at my house than Miller Lyte...Good Gosh what was he thinking???

The Walsh's said...

Hilarious. I love your account of the story, but I love your Dyet Koke even more.

Good grief, the things people name their children. I wonder if they ever stop to consider that their children are the ones who have to live with and attend school with these names. Oi vey.
