The funeral service was beautiful and so many people came to pay their respects. It did my heart good to see all the people lined up out the door waiting to speak to us. That line hanging out the door brought me a small measure of peace. Please continue to pray for my family as we try to find our way without my dad. His stature and personality were large and he his absence leaves a gapping hole in our family.
Even among the sorrow of the weekend, we did have some occasion to celebrate.
Sarah had her regional swim meet on Friday evening. Her 400 Free relay qualified for states and she was beyond thrilled.
Isn't this cute? I accidentally took a burst of 65 pictures trying to get a good shot and my phone turned it into animation. |

And on Sunday, Peter received his Eagle Scout Award. It was perfect except for the fact that my dad wasn't there. Peter gave his mentor pin to my mom. He was planning on giving it my dad but my mom happily accepted it.

It must be so surreal that life goes on after a loss like that. I hope you all find peace and comfort...prayers!
Praying for your family. It is so hard to lose someone so suddenly because you are not "prepared". (Are you ever?) So glad life gave you some joys during this very difficult time. Continuing in prayer for you.
My deepest sympathies to you and your family in this time of sorrow.
I do want to send congratulations to Peter for his accomplishments on becoming an Eagle Scout. As a Committee Chair for a Troop here in Missouri this is wonderful to see.
Again, prayers to all of you.
Such a huge achievement for Peter. I am so so sad for you but I am happy you are finding the good in this time of sorrow as well.
It's hard to believe that life just goes on after such a devastating loss. I'm keeping you all in my prayers. Congrats to both the kids on their achievements!
I am sure it was so hard to have such important events happening just after your loss. Congrats to Peter on such a big accomplishment, and also to Sarah, how exciting to make it to State! Thinking of you often. Great family photo.
Congratulations to Peter! That is a huge accomplishment, but at times like that you really miss those special people like your Dad. I'm sure Peter knows how proud he was of him.
Love that little animation of Sarah and fellow swimmers!
Congratulations to Sarah and Peter! And prayers and hugs to all of you as you try to find your new normal.🙏🏻❤️
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad! I'm just catching up on blog reading tonight, so I just found out. It's such a shock when someone who has always ALWAYS been there is gone. My dad passed on over 5 years ago, and it still doesn't seem real.
