This weekend we opened his presents after we got back from the Renaissance Festival. His main and most favorite gift was a replica of an English musket from 1722. As I noted on my post yesterday, he loves history and historic battles and anything relating to those so this musket was perfect for him. (I could totally see him being a revolutionary or civil war re-enactor some day!)

And we had a big birthday lunch of steaks and baked potatoes and salad at my parent's house on Sunday complete with my mom's chocolate cake as Peter's birthday cake.

We had a great weekend celebrating Peter but I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out how we got to 15 so fast.

Just wondering how you ensure gun safety in your home. Is there a gun safe that only adults can access? Do you keep guns and ammunition in separate and secure locations? Do you disclose to other parents that there are guns in your home if their children visit? Guns exponentially increase the risk of death or injury to home occupants and visitors. What do you do to counteract these possibilities?
My hometown was recently rocked by a school shooting where a suicidal teen boy brought two guns to school and killed a classmate and injured others. He had the combo to the gun safe, even though he had threatened suicide and hurting others at the school.

Andrea - This gun is a replica of a musket used in the 1700s. We have no real working guns in our home thankfully so we don't have to worry about accidents.
How cool that he is so into history he wanted a musket! I hope his love for history serves him well!! I bet he will love APUSH and the other AP classes if they're offered! I am glad he had a wonderful birthday.
My hubby loves history and old guns, so would love that musket. Looks like Peter had a nice day!
