Not exactly how we planned it....

Whew!!

It's Tuesday already and I just realized I never posted about our weekend.  I am sure you are all on pins and needles.

We went into Friday thinking that we were going to get to the track and then the host team would make the decision whether or not to cancel.  At least that's what they told us on Thursday and that's what I put in the email that I sent out to our entire team.

And then on Friday morning, (after some pressure from another school, I think), the host school decided to postpone the meet to Sunday.

SO, another email went out saying POSTPONED.  I wanted to include in that email that I was not the one that could not make up my mind and to please don't hate me but those words were not included in the email.  :)

Anyway, it never really rained Friday night but it did drizzle a lot and it was very chilly so it's fine that it was postponed EXCEPT for the fact that we had restaurant reservations with my family on Sunday.  I felt bad for my mom but they were quickly able to get some friends to take our spots at the table and it sounds like they all had a good time on Sunday - MOTHER'S DAY - while we were at the track meet.

Because the track meet was postponed, that meant that Sarah got to spend both Friday and Saturday night at her Girl Scout camping event.  Her leaders posted a lot of pictures and she said she had a really good time.  They did a little of everything: giant games, fishing, paddle boarding, a color run, a flag burning ceremony, and a dance.  She was tired on Sunday morning.

The leaders told the parents that they were stopped by the camp leaders and told that this group of girls was one of the nicest most helpful groups that they have every seen come through the camp in all their years working at the camp.  Now THAT makes me happy!

Dan, Peter and I went to Mass and dinner on Saturday evening after a day full of chores and then on Sunday we headed to the track where we had a beautiful, sunny, hot day - perfect for a track meet.

Our team did well and so did Peter and Sarah but we came up short - 2nd place for the 6th time in as many years.  Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.  But, it 's hard to compete agains the school that wins every year as they have well over twice as many students as we do.  Oh well - I guess we are building character!  :)

7th grade conference meet runners (minus 1 plus the coach).

8th grade conference meet runners.

And then, because my mom is a saint - we had dinner at her house.  She felt bad that we missed the lunch out so she and dad fixed us fillets, baked potatoes, salad and cake!  And y'all - my parents gave ME  a present!

So, even though it didn't go exactly as planned - it was still a pretty great weekend!

What a weekend you had. And your mom is such a sweetheart! I love the picture of the girls on the lake.

Ah man, I had such hope that you were going to have your meet as planned on Friday. Your mom is so kind! Still sounds like a not horrible Mother's Day. Glad Sarah had such a nice time at camp!
