She's a sly one!

I paid .97 cents for these at Wal-Mart.

I thought it would be a fun way for me to help Sarah learn all of the letters and their sounds while Peter was at school.

I know she will be learning this at preschool but she is always asking me for something to do and I thought this would be the answer.

They were inexpensive. She would be learning something and we could do it together.

I was wrong.

After making it through the letter D, she grabbed all the cards and yelled, "I'm done playing with these!"

I was a little disappointed that we didn't make it through more letters but I figured we would have lots of fun playing with the flash cards later.

I was wrong.

This is how the box looks today.

The next day, I asked Sarah if she wanted to play with the flash cards and as I grabbed the box, I realized it was empty.

She giggled as she told me no, she did not want to play with the flash cards.

She giggled some more when she told me she hid them.

So much for my fun, affordable, learning tool. I don't even know where they are and she won't tell me.

I guess she really meant it when she said she was done playing with these!

I guess she found her own fun with them; a simple game of hide and seek

I need to employ that strategy with annoying toys. I'll just announce "I'm done with this!" and then hide it - brilliant!

(Hopefully she hid them all in one place and not in random spots around the house:)

H is for hide and hilarious.

OH that is pretty funny. Thanks for the laugh! At least they were only 97 cents.

Flash cards always "seem" like a good idea until they scatter them all over your house, tear them, bend them, color them, and think of other ways to destroy them! ;)

I find my kids never fall for my "educational" toys. If it doesn't shoot something or remind them of X-games somehow, they ain't interested.

I've tried flash cards before without any luck. I am not sure if anyone actually has any luck with them. Good luck trying to find them.

Wow, that's crazy. You'll probably find them when she's graduating from high school.

She's a smart one! The only way I got my daughter interested in our flash cards was to have Grandma buy them, then pretend I didn't want her to play with them. Worked like a charm.

I have been lurking for a little while, and I just had to pop in and say what a smart little cookie you've got on your hands there. :) I love how she giggled while telling you she hid them...she just KNEW she pulled one over on you.

Your blog is so much fun!

Bwahahaha -that's hilarious. And brilliant: she doesn't need flash cards, she's gonna be a smart one.

That's funny. If it were my house and I had 26 rooms there would be a card in every room! At least it wasn't your keys or wallet she hid.

I'm surprised I haven't run into something similar!

How dare you TEACH your daughter something, ha!

Where did you find flash card for .97? Even at walmart, I can't seem to find them at cheap! I am sure this isn't the first (or last) time Sarah has out-smarted you! :)
