Easy Method For Husking and Silking Corn on the Cob

This time of year I love serving fresh corn on the cob. But I hate getting the husks and the silks off. Hate it!

But I have discovered a simple technique that makes cooking and husking easy. Just follow these easy steps and you will be nibbling on corn on the cob in no time!
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Place corn (husks and all) on a cookie sheet.
  • Heat in the oven for 30 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and let cool for a couple of minutes.
  • Start peeling off husks. You will find that they are super easy to remove and the silk (that dreaded silk!) practically slides right off! (And I have been known to use an oven mitt for this if I'm in a hurry and can't wait for it to cool a little.)

Enjoy!

I may try that. I love my method though. Send corn and kids outside. It's an activity... kids have fun and I do nothing! :)

I've done it this way twice now. The first time it came out great, but the second time, the corn was tough. I figure it was just bad corn. It definitely works for getting the silk off easily!

We use the microwave...same results. Put the corn in for 6 min (turn over after 3 min) and the silks and husks come off clean! Can't miss. We put up to 6 in at a time.
