It's green and it's a meme.

I have a love hate relationship with handbags.

I can never seem to find one big enough to hold all my stuff. And if I can find on that is big enough to hold all my stuff then it’s usually not very cute.

Or if I can find one that’s really cute, it’s usually very expensive.

Or if I can find one that’s not very expensive, then it’s not big enough to hold all my stuff.

So I usually buy a black purse that’s fairly cheap and sort of cute and I use it for a couple of weeks and then I hate it. But I end up carrying it for about 6 months and then I buy another black bag that’s fairly cheap and sort of cute and I use it for a couple of weeks and I hate it.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

I wish that you could carry a bag for a few days and then return it to the store. Because you will never know if a bag is going to work until you’ve carried it for a few days.

And I think you all know what I mean by “work”. Is the cell phone holder in the right spot? Is there enough room in the bag for your wallet and can you get said wallet out of your bag without tampons, keys and Kleenex falling out of the bag.

Is there enough room for a make-up bag? Is there a little hook for your keys. Is this hook in a practical spot?

Is it big enough to hold everything I need as well as crackers, crayons and wipes for the kids?

I saw a cute meme over at Total Mom Haircut and thought I would play along. I wasn’t tagged mind you, I just thought I would play along.

And since her name is Beth and my name is Beth, I figured she wouldn’t mind.

Here are the rules to the meme as posted by the other Beth:

1) Post a picture of whatever bag you are carrying as of late. No, you cannot go up to your closet and pull out that cute little purse you used back before you had kids. I want to know what you carried today.

2) I want to know how much it cost:) And this is not to judge, because I’m honestly telling you I was ready to put down some cash; I just got lucky. This is for entertainment purposes only. So spill it. And if there is a story to go along with how you obtained it, I’d love to hear it.

3) Tag some chicks. And link back to this post so people know why the heck you’re showing everyone your diaper bag/non-diaper bag.

So here is my latest handbag.

It’s pretty cute but mainly I got it because I love the green color. It’s my favorite color of all time. (Well, now anyway. I choose to forget the time in the late 80’s when I went through a very long love affair with the color peach.)

I got this bag at Target for $26. That’s a pretty good price if I use it for 6 months a more. My only problem is that after using it for a couple of weeks, I don’t think I love it.

Which, if you ask my husband, means the kiss of death for this handbag.

He knows me better than I know myself.

Since I wasn’t officially tagged, I’m going to ignore #3 and I’m not going to tag anyone. However, I would love to see and hear all about your handbag. So leave me a comment if you are going to play along. I don’t want to miss any handbags. Who knows…I might find one I like!

It is very cute! Yes, it is difficult to find the perfect bag. I like Megan's suggestion to ebay it. I had never thought of that before with old purses. I might have to try it. I have recently started paying more for purses to get one I really like.

Right now I have one I got for Christmas. I might have to play along so I can show it off. It has a cat on it. It is too cute!

I had thought about posting a photo of my purse but didn't even know a meme was going around. This is great.

I'm not really a purse/handbag girl. They are a necessary evil to get by in life. I always notice when others have the gumption to carry an oversize or coordinated handbag, though. It is just not me.

I go through the same purse delima. I do LOVE your purse. Not just because green is my favorite color, but because its so darn cute.
I may have to make a stop at target- you wont mind if we carry the same purse will you? After all, its not like we will ever be seen together carrying them

My favorite purse right now is one I won at my Bunco group. It is HUGE.
But I know me, I will change my mind in a couple of weeks and be looking for something new.

Your purse is very cute. I'm the same way about switching purses. I never pay a lot for them, because I love to get new ones!

That's a very cute bag. I have the opposite problem, though. I usually don't have enough stuff to fill my purse. The only things I carry are my wallet, a bottle of hand cream, and a pen. So my bag is usually less than half full. And all the little pouches and pockets just get in my way. Right now I am carrying a bag that I got at Payless Shoes just before Christmas. They were having a buy one get one half off sale, and we had three things and could still get one more thing for half off, so I chose this bag. It was already marked down to 20 dollars, so I got it for 10! It's a cute little purple and blue American Eagle thing. I love it!!

That is a great color bag. I love green as well. I was at a store recently where they had purses that you could change the cover on. Similar to 80s purses with the wooden handles and three buttons. They were cute but too expensive for right after Christmas. Hopefully Target will make a version of bags where you can change the cover.

Well, you know I love it because of the color too! I know what you mean though. It all has to sort of fit perfectly for it to be just right. I'm finding with my new bag, the one that was supposedly perfect and wonderful, that the straps aren't the right length and it falls off my shoulder every time I am holding my youngest child. It's...annoying. And someone actually did tell me in a comment about a bag rental site...let me go look for it...

Here you go: BagBorroworSteal.com
I haven't used it but someone told me about it in the comments.

Thanks for playing along. I'm so glad you did:)

I carry the hugest shoulder bag around. I was just saying today I need to downsize and clean this one out. LOL

I like it. It's big enough without looking like a suitcase. I never can find a great bag either. I am so jealous that you found it at Target. We are finally getting a Target here, to be opened on March 12, within walking distance of my house. Then I would be able to find a cute bag like you have for only $26.

Awww - you have like a bag pound - maybe you can open it up and have people come "adopt" your bags! ;-) Are bags like men? They're cute, you date em for awhile and then they show their true color! :-)

Do I ever know how you feel, Beth! Love the post and I've participated. Come on over and have a look! *smile*

So, you're sayin' you're done with it? Green is one of my all-time favorite colors, too, and since it's also a symbol for being environmentally sound, what say you recycle that bag to me here in Iowa! It's gorgeous! (I mean the bag, but so too is Iowa!)

Right now I am carrying the bag my daughter gave me for Christmas and I dearly love it.
Check out my blog if you would like to see it.

When we went to New York last year I saw a lot of ladies with suit cases trailing behind them. I have been tempted more then once to get one and use it as a purse, at least then I would always have everything I needed whenever I needed it. People here in Illinois would think I was crazy, but so what.
