Full moon? Fever? What could it have been?

I could hear their giggles coming from the play room as I stood in the kitchen roasting the tomatoes that were going in the soup I was serving for dinner.

My kids were playing - together! And had been for over thirty minutes!

"Is it a full moon?" I wondered to myself. "Perhaps one of them is feverish!" I thought anxiously.

But no. It was neither of these. They were actually playing together on their on without any extenuating circumstances.

Perhaps it was out of sheer boredom or maybe they have finally realized the value of having a sibling around. Whatever the case, it was the sweetest sound I've heard in a while.

I've heard this sound before but usually it ends in screams of "Mom! He called me a name!" or "Mom! She's not sharing!"

But not this time. This time, I was the one who put an end to their play because we had somewhere to go and we had to be there at 2:00.

But not before they convinced me to read them a book, to give them airplane rides on my feet and to have a tickle fight.

Hmmm...Mommy was playing nice yesterday too.

Perhaps there was a full moon after all?

Or perhaps Mommy is finally realizing that sometimes it's OK to be a little late when she is trying to win a tickle fight!

When my kids are playing nicely together and I don't hear fighting I immediately go investigate to make sure my couch is still assembled and the food is still in the pantry.

You mean there is hope? My girls are starting to play nicely more often - but it rarely ends that way! Kudos to you & your kiddos!

I feel the same way. The boys are always complaining about the other one. So when it gets really quite I feel the sudden urge to run down the hallway and check on them.

My kids were playing nicely the other day and I didn't want to disturb it (I didn't have anywhere to be or anything to do). But reading about the tickle fight made me remember your post awhile back about there will come a day when our kids grow up and move away so treasure these tickle fights today! Tomorrow will come all too quickly!

Beth, thanks for your visit and comments. My post was a little "heavy" and I found it refreshing to come here and laugh and enjoy "A Mom's Life." And it sure brought back memories of when I was raising my children. I can't even count the times they would say, "She called me. . He called me. . and some of the things they were called I hadn't even heard of but I knew from their reactions it must be BAD, BAD, BAD!

Enjoy these wonderful, awful, fun, boring, trying, delightful times with your children!

I blame the unexplainable on solar flares... so perhaps it was that. I love that my children play together, but it does more often than not end with a screaming tantrum, or loud anger. If you've figured out the secret to having them play together happily, please let me know.

I love days like that when the kids surprise you.

Roasted tomato soup, that sounds like a recipe I need. Have yet to find a homemade tomato recipe that I love.

Oh my word! My kids just started playing TOGETHER in the past couple days too! It is the most blessed thing I have experienced since becoming a mother. THERE IS HOPE!
