But I recently discovered simple and easy way to peel, core and slice onions.
Check this out....
Get out your hand dandy apple slicer/corer. Slice off the top and the bottom of the onion so the onion doesn't slip.
Place the apple slicer/corer on top.
Push down.
Now that the apple is cored and sliced you can easily peel off the brown skin.
And remove the core.
And voila...perfect onion slices!

And lest you think I am a complete genius, I saw this trick in Cooking Pleasures magazine.

Way easier than how I slice them;)
I love this idea!! I'm constantly crying when slicing onions. This will help me to reduce the time I spend slicing and crying :) There was another tip last week on WFMW that I love although I can't use it because I have an electric stove. Cut onions near an open flame - the flame absorbs the nasty stuff that creates tears :) Thanks for this awesome tip!!
I need to get me one of these. I love eating apple slices but hate cutting apples (more than I hate chopping onions)
I don't really like onions so I rarely have occasion to chop them, but the bf uses them all the time, I will definitely pass this idea along to him. I think my mom would like to hear about it too!
OK I have NEVER seen this tip...WOW!
I hate to cut onions. Will have to try this! Woot!
Great idea - I never would have thought of that!
Cool tip.
Here's your science lesson of the day. I just read this in the paper a couple of weeks ago. The reason you cry when you slice onions is because there is a chemical in onions that is similar to sulfuric acid. When you slice into it, you cut the cells open and release the chemical. When it gets to your eyes, the chemical makes your eyes water, flushing the chemical away!
I LOVE this idea. I was going to post my onion chopping idea today, but didn't get pictures done in time....but my idea is NO WHERE near this cool! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this way of cutting onions. I am SO scrapping my old way and doing this from now on!
I love it! Why did we never think of this before? Second thought, why did The Pampered Chef never think of this before. After selling it for over two years I thought I had heard of every trick with all of their tools. Brilliant!
Cool, thanks for sharing.
I will most definitely have to try this next time! Thanks so much for sharing. :)
Great idea. I will be doing that for sure.
I've never seen this and could have used it last night. Great tip!
That's awesome! Never thought of that.
