Ireland - Day 5 - Part 1

We were up bright and early on Saturday morning to see Ennis, County Clare and some of the surrounding sights.

Ennis is a quaint little town and just so happens to be the town where Dan's grandmother and grandfather grew up and were married.  Below are shots of us taken in front of the church where they were married - Ennis Cathedral.

After a brief walk through Ennis we hopped in the car and headed to Lehinch.  This is a beach town nearby that Dan said he can remember his grandfather talking about.  The tiny black things in the water in the picture below are surfers.  Dan and I got a good laugh out of this because the wives were so small.  We decided that perhaps this was a surfing class because no one was even able to get up on their boards much less "catch a wave"!

I don't even remember what the picture below is, I just like it because my hair isn't blowing all over my face!

We stopped to visit St. Brigid's Well in Liscannor.  The well was tucked in a secluded cave and we didn't get any pictures of it.  The well has become a shrine where people leave pictures of deceased loved ones.  It was peaceful yet sad and a little creepy all at the same time.

On the other side of the road was this statue.  Not sure what it is, but we loved the fact that a cow walked right up to it and started scratching his face on it.

More pictures to follow in Part 2 of Day 5!
