Gingerbread men and cupcake frosting!

My husband loves gingerbread cookies.  Well, mostly he loves frosting so he makes gingerbread cookies as a delivery mechanism for the frosting.

I do not like gingerbread cookies and I do not like to make any cookie that has to be rolled out so my husband and Sarah have been making them together for the last couple of years.

My husband has the patience of Job and doesn't seem to mind flour, sugar and spices flying around the kitchen.  And Sarah loves to measure, mix and roll so it's the perfect combination.

I hope the memories of baking cookies with Daddy will be as sweet for her when she is all grown up as the cupcake frosting that they make for the cookies.

I totally hear ya here! I am a lazy baker... so very little rolling, flouring, cutting for me... unless I absolutely HAVE to!

Oh, Mama- what a sweet special memory for her to have of just her and her Daddy.

That is so fun for the two of them!

I am SO with you - I hate the flouring, rolling, re-flouring, re-rolling. Blech. Hence the reason I hate sugar cookie making... hence the reason I have to have dear friends come over to bake with my kiddos! hee hee.

I absolutely love this post. What wonderful memories she will have and it's a great way for your husband to have a special tradition with your daughter. I happen to love gingerbread, but don't like the mess either. Unfortunately you can't have one without the other, so the mess is part and parcel. Does Nestle make gingerbread dough by the roll too? I'd be up for that.

What a special tradition. We got gingerbread when we were in Williamsburg. I fell in love with the stuff when I was there with my parents 6 or 7 years ago, I was so excited to have more of it finally. The fiance even bought me the cookbook from the bakery there because it had the recipe. Now I can make my own little gingerbread cakes :)
