Every season I look forward to the new edition of Kraft's Food and Family magazine to arrive in my mailbox.
And a new Holiday edition arrived today! But when I pulled it out of my mailbox I noticed it was in a plastic bag. Hmmmm...that's odd, I thought. Normally that only happens when you are receiving a bill with a magazine but that can't be right because this magazine is free.
Upon further investigation I discovered that I was correct. Inside the plastic bag was my copy of the magazine and an URGENT NOTICE telling me that if I wanted to continue to receive their formerly free magazine I would need to send them $6.99. (Which is a reduction in the Regular Subscription Rate of $13.98)
And for my $6.99 in addition to receiving the magazine (did I mention that it used to be FREE), included would be recipes, how tos, solutions for everyday meals, and affordable ways to serve family favorites. And all of those would be INCLUDED with the price of the $6.99 magazine. Well excuse me, but all of those are supposed to be in the magazine in the first place.
I do enjoy the Food and Family magazine but come on people! Let's call a spade a spade. The "magazine" is really just one pretty advertisement for Kraft. And now I am supposed to pay Kraft $6.99 for an advertisement.
Did Kraft send a memo telling me this and I chucked it like it was my kids artwork? Or is Kraft trying to pull a fast one?
Or perhaps they have come up with the world's cheapest marketing plan. I wonder how many people will pay the bill thinking they've been buying this magazine all along?
I keep thinking I missed something. What did I miss?

You have got to be kidding me! I have received this magazine ever since it started and while it has the occasional good recipe or coupon I can use, it is just an advertisement for Kraft's products like you said. Now they expect us to pay for this? I hope the joke is on them when they realize their little "magazine" is not all that special to where people would pay for it.
I love this magazine as well. always fun to see the new ideas, and some of them are really good. I WON'T be paying them. so if they stop sending it to me...so be it.
Well now I'm prepared! I get this too, but haven't gotten this issue with the bill in it. Bummer.
I haven't gotten mine yet. I also enjoy the 'free' magazine, but it's not worth paying for. They use and reuse the same recipes over and over and they can all be found on their website. Disappointing. Kraft is making a big mistake.
I got that same plastic-covered magazine! I immediately said, "oh boo, now I won't be able to get the magazine that I didn't ask for, didn't pay for, and never read. What a shame."
hee hee
Wow.
Ha! You missed out on being a sucker, that's what you missed!
::scowl:: Naughty Kraft!
I got mine in the mail yesterday and thought the very same thing. You have to be kidding me..... I am not paying either.
Good Luck Kraft!!!
this is such sad news. I love their magazine and look forward to it too. I agree...it IS one BIG marketing tool for them. Come on Kraft...knock the other "freebies" off and give us the magazine again. Is there a complaint dept.?
Wow. I have to admire the genius of their marketing scheme...even though I think it's horrible.
I got this too!! I've been getting this magazine full of yummy recipes for free for years!! I called my mom, who also gets it, and went "You've got to be kidding me....are they serious?!?!" I tell you what though, I bet they lose a lot of customers because I'm not about to pay for it....that was a cheap shot in my opinion.
