I think we have a problem.

We didn't accomplish much this weekend.

It was Labor Day weekend after all. The name itself implies lots of hard work but we all know Resting and Relaxing Day weekend would be a much better name for it.

We did manage to clean out our garage yesterday. Dan did this last year around this time, but the stack of mud laden toys and bikes and sidewalk chalk and paint were taking over, making it difficult to park our cars, so something had to be done.

We rinsed and rearranged and tossed and in addition to a dead frog that had gotten trapped under a pile of toys, we found a BLACK WIDOW SPIDER!

And after the whole garage was cleaned and straightened and swept, we found ANOTHER BLACK WIDOW SPIDER!

I guess at this point, you could say that we have a problem.

So my to-do list today looks like this:

1. Purchase spider spray.
2. Spray spider spray.
3. Frantically check the garage in 5 minute intervals for dead and dying spiders.

Good times, ya'll. Good times.

  4. Ugh spiders are so gross! Our garae is full of spiders right now to the point where you can walk or look anywhere without seeing one. They are harmless though and come inside sheds and garages every year at this time. In a couple months we wont see them again until summer and then they will be in the evergreen trees outside. One time there was a massive one in the corner of an outside doorway. We didnt know what it was because it was at least 10 times bigger than any I had ever seen before. Turns out she was just pregnant and looking for a warm place for her eggs. So gross though, I cant stand the things. Ive never seen a black widow before and I hope I never do! They are not common in this area though and only come by way of grapes or something similar...

    I feel for ya

  5. Oh no not the black widow spiders. Those things are terrifying.

Hooray for living in a country that has no poisonous or scary snakes, bugs or spiders.

Creepy crawlies are my biggest phobia.

  6. I just found your blog on another blog and how cute is it! I've just added you to my blog! Cleaning out the garage is one thing that I don't miss about having a house. We live in a condo at the moment in NC while trying to sell our house in Florida. Now the renters have to deal with the cleaning of the garage and we just have stuff to go through in the spare room.

Hope you got rid of those spiders, ICK!

You park a car in your garage? Funny. I've heard that some people do that. ;)

  21. When we lived in Bakersfield I found a black widow in my KITCHEN. I was so freaked, I cannot even tell you. Know how I killed it? Windex. I sprayed and sprayed and sprayed it with Windex. Then, just to make sure it was dead, I sprayed it some more. And then I stomped on it.

    I am truly not exaggerating.
