I'm sorry to have to do this but...

I do not like word verification on blog posts.

It slows me down when I'm leaving a comment. Half the time I don't type in the correct set of letters. And the other half of the time I can't even figure out what the letters are supposed to be because they are so distorted.

But today I'm going to have to turn it on because in the span of 6 minutes I got 15 spam comments on old posts.

Imagine my excitement when I opened my email and realized I had 15 comments on my posts.

Imagine my disappointment when I realized they were spam.

So word verification will be turned on for now. I'll turn it off as soon as I can.

In the meantime, I'm off to dream of the day when I will get 15 real comments in 6 minutes.

  5. ok, so it's probably not at all the same as getting 6 legit comments from 6 readers, but hey I try!

  7. I hate word verification too. Mostly because I am too stupid to ever get it right. Let's see how I do today.

  12. That is frustrating! I don't like the word verification, either. But I have had to do that in the past. I hope it doesn't happen again!

  15. "Oh boy oh boy" is cracking me up. I don't mind the word verification. I'm always looking for a cool one or some subliminal message... or I try to pretend like it's a word scramble game. =)
My word verification today: ersess. Not too exciting.

  16. Ugh. Yeah. I hate the word verification, too. But we had the same problem. Every time we would post a new blog, we would get a "comment" from someone leaving a link to a site that would put a virus on our computer (or any of our friend's computers) if they were to click on the link. So had to do the verification. But, no more "bad" comments ever since.

  17. I feel ya Beth. I toggle between turning captcha on and off too. Besides getting comment spammed I get e-mail spammed with my blog e-mail address and it drives me NUTS! okay, MORE NUTS. :)

  18. I hate verification too, for the same reasons you do, but I understand. Bummer!

  20. Oh man! That's like salt in the comment lover's wound. I don't like the word ver. either, but I know it's for a good cause.

Besides, I usually get letters that spell weird words. Today I got "splega" -- doesn't that sound like a tropical disease?

"I'm sorry, Mr. Smith, but I'm afraid it's a bad case of Splega."

    Maybe I'm just weird . . .
